"During Gulf War I, the entire Iraqi air force was hidden in the deserts in Iran."

Genius.

Johann Hari, by the way, was initially a supporter of the war, as part of the UK's Blairite "pro-war left" (sic). More recently, he admitted he was wrong and, ever since, his former comrades in the ranks of British neoconnerie have had it in for him. He had to threaten a blog with legal action recently, after they spread some allegations about him writing lies and recommended "career death".

Where did that guy hear about the Iraqi air force in IRAN from? Does he not realize they'd want to kill each other?

Yeah, if there's one thing that article teaches us, it's that the Right can come up with far sillier conspiracy theories than the Left. Some 9/11 rumours are pretty far-fetched but, at the same time, there are tons of inconsistencies in the official narrative, which invite speculation. But these neocon folk are off the scale - WMDs in Syria, Iraqi planes in Iran, Mr Amin from the corner shop plotting to impose Islamic law on Europe.

The other thought I had was, if you go back 30 years, you'd hear the same arguments from those folk, but about "Communists" instead of "Muslims". No one's scared of Communists any more.

It's like looking at a caricature and realizing it's a real picture. (I quit reading after the second page or so, just couldn't take it)

Yeah, it gets more gruesome. Even William F. Buckley ends up being disparaged by these people.

In my ideal world, this would be a ridiculous work of fiction...
