Do I have the speed to carry on?

I don't have terribly much to report today. I've spent the past few days watching episodes of Weeds. Tuesday featured a PR meeting, and yesterday I ventured down to the Union and sold merchandise before heading back to the station and hanging out with Will, Shawn, and Bradley. Today was somewhat similar, except that I DJed and I loitered around for ( Read more... )

Happy birthday!

I think the only good that can come from a Verve reunion is that'll stop Ashcroft's solo career.

This bit from Uncut seems to share a few of my thoughts, except for the Spiritalized bit, as I never did get into them.

Just a quick one today: I must admit that, a few months ago, it was hard to imagine Richard Ashcroft ever being involved in music I’d like again. But The Verve reunion has thrown up a few intriguing possibilities, not least the suggestion that they may sidestep all the windy balladry and return to the sort of cosmic orientation that made the band so interesting in the first place ( ... )

The above scares me. I'll give it a listen when I get a chance though.

More or less it is, but they never really did jams in your typical Phish/Grateful Dead-sense. I still don't think you'll care anything for it, but I thought that second-to-last paragraph was really the key.

Yeah. We had wildfires around here a few months ago, but it definitely looked nowhere near as compelling as that. It was just thick smoke choking the days for about two weeks straight. Some of the fires were nearby, but most of the smoke was actually coming from a fire nearly two hours to the east and this east-northeast wind from the Atlantic kept blowing it so far west that it was reducing visibility in south-central Alabama (another two hours away, but to the west!).

"The Terminals - "Both Ends Burning" (Roxy Music done lo-fi Kiwi style.)"

That was definitely worth the hour and a half it took to download. Many thanks for the link.

You're welcome! I love Breathless, as you've probably read before. Their 1986 debut album The Glass Bead Game (which I referred to in the entry) is my favorite record.
