Log 22: If Samus was Captain

Redd ... just kill him already. Permanently. Or keep him in the brig till we reach this Shore of yours and then I'll do it for you. He's proven himself unwilling to live with the rest of us. You're only putting us in danger every day you let him walk free.

I'd rather humiliate you when we're no longer on this ship. Unlike you, I follow the rules. Our host doesn't want us to fight, so I won't.

[Erol laughs.]

You must be joking.

Not at all ...

[She snickers.]

Punishment is meant to reform the criminal. If someone is beyond reformation, then they should be incarcerated for life, or simply executed.

Reformation?

And they call me insane.

[Erol thinks you come from a "huggy-bear" world. It's a little far off the mark, but her society clearly as FAR different standards from Haven.]

Your willingness to have others killed is commendable I suppose, but do they actually keep people for life where you're from, just because the bastard won't cooperate?

Life sentences are given for certain crimes, typically when there's no hope of reintegrating someone into society, like repeat offenders. What's the use in releasing someone if they've shown that they'll just do it again?

Execution is only called for particularly heinous crimes, or when someone is too dangerous to be held. That's when they hire someone like me to go after them.

[She snickered.]
