Okay, so Yuri picked up his sword to protect people. In the process, he learned that more bad comes out of it, he became a criminal, these are all things he accepts and deals with. It doesn't dent him so much as it taught him to be more respectful of killing/consequences. He felt he came out a better person for it too!
Then Judith died and Yuri saw himself as responsible. He even got so caught up in his anger that he didn't even try to save her, he wanted to avenge her. This hit him rather hard, because he never really saw himself as a danger to other people, as a person who would cut down the people closest to him. Even with Estelle and her asking him to, he found another way. But in this instance, he didn't and he couldn't even save Judith. It made everything he'd done, learned to seem completely meaningless. Which is why he stopped wearing his sword. His mentality is such; if I can't save people with my sword, I have to find another way to do it.

Okay, so Leto clearly said he has a lot of mixed feelings for Charles Xavier. He doesn't like the decisions Charles made in the past (especially with his sister >E) and isn't all that surprised at the way it came tumbling down at him. Despite that, Charles is empathic, kind, open to making friends and is capable of doing so. Leto... can't make friends as easily, doesn't know how, can't even if he really wanted to, his inherent nature preventing him for really connecting well with others. So, to see someone, in similar circumstances to himself, but with different qualities, it makes him a little jealous, a little hateful. He's open to admitting that, being a critic.
At the same time, Leto just flat out loves Charles for going on, for picking his side, for helping people even when he's the one who needs help. Leto respects his strength, believes in him and his ability to make the right decisions. The only problem is that Charles has been badly hurt over the Cuba incident and not exactly coping well to ( ... )

But they're no longer this "one soul". By taking on the worm-skin, he doomed her and himself. Leto is stuck in a series of events he can't escape and Ghani is forced to watch him suffer. He's happy that she's here, knows that it'll be good for him and she'll be able to control his awful moodswings and the intensity of his emotions. But at the same time, having her here means she'll be able to see him suffer. Ghani can outlive her lifetime in camp, gaining Leto precious time with her but he feels he's already lost and making Ghani go through that pain seems like a terrible thing for him to do it to her ( ... )

Still, it bothers him the way Erik enjoys the skin and his differences. For Leto, those differences compound his inability to connect with people, to make him different and alone for eternity, so he gets visibly irritated/confused when Erik purposely points them out and appreciates them. He knows Erik does it partly because he likes to unnerve Leto, but he still can't wrap his mind around it. He does like Erik, though not at the same level as he cares for Charles and he does feel Erik will do great things, if he doesn't end up destroying himself first. Leto is very fond of him, just not enough for Leto to stop bullying him.
