Well, let's see. The good news is, I managed to make it as far as the Library, unscathed, before realizing what the curse was all about today. The, er, bad news is...well. Here I am, and there's a curse. And it's monsters again ( Read more... )

Huh... those are certainly interesting theories. And not without reason... well, actually, in my homeworld, they would sound pretty impossible, but hey, this is the City!

... Peg-Fist Jack? Wandering Hangman?

If there's one thing I've learned in all my time here, it's that even the impossible can sometimes come true in a place like the City.

Mmhmm! He's a ghost pirate and the Hangman is his ship. Or so I've heard.

Yeah, you've got that right!

You have? Where from?

From the diary of his first mate, Leonard the Barnacle. I found it once, while looking through the Library. It was quite an interesting read!

Rin is... so buying it. revengeisalie October 21 2009, 21:43:56 UTC
Oh! So what was the story?

Sob, Rin. It's such a ludicrous story, too. primrosella October 21 2009, 22:09:08 UTC
Well, it seems that a very long time ago, when royalty still lived in the Palace here, Peg-Fist Jack and his crew of scalawags were the terror of the high seas. And one October, just around Halloween, they came and raided the Palace, hoping to make off with the treasure within. But the captain of the guard, LeBlanc, set a trap for them, and there was a great battle. The pirates got away with the treasure, but Peg-Fist Jack was mortally wounded, and now his ghost haunts the City this time of the year.

She just advised someone else to "never say 'impossible' in the City"... so. revengeisalie October 21 2009, 22:16:21 UTC
... a record of what was here before? No way!

In her defense, there was a "sometimes" condition in there, too. <3 primrosella October 21 2009, 22:20:20 UTC
Well, if you're willing to believe the word of a pirate, anyway.

... right.

Anyway, I doubt records of the City's past would be that easy to come by.

Are you particularly interested in stories of the City's past, Rin?

revengeisalie October 21 2009, 23:32:46 UTC
Well, they'd constitute an important part of the whole puzzle, if they existed, no?

Reply

primrosella October 21 2009, 23:37:22 UTC
They would, and they'd be helpful in dealing with the future, too, I think. A few of my friends were working on a project concerning that, a short while ago--looking back through old Network entries and talking to the people that have been here the longest, looking for patterns and things.

... that sounds interesting.

Could I... talk to them?

Oh, of course, I don't see why not. Have you met Sam and Cain before? Sam Witwicky and Cain Hargreaves? They're the ones that were looking into it.

revengeisalie October 24 2009, 16:21:16 UTC
I do know Mister Cain Hargreaves, and Mister Sam Witwicky... maybe. I think.

Well, if you don't know Sam, it'll be no trouble at all to introduce you. He's my best friend, and we live together.
