I imagine she would have a similar answer. According to HRC or some other report I read recently all of Democratic candidates are in favor of gay civil unions instead of marriage except for Dennis Kucinich. He seems to be the only who gets that different is not equal.
I guess I would expect Obama to get that only the same treatment is equal, not separate or different treatment being a Black American (especially since He is very aware of the Jim Crow laws that didn't work so well previously in American history) and that if he was truly about equal rights, he would advocate truly equal rights.
Don't get me wrong, I like Obama overall. I just think it's especially hypocritical of him to advocate separate civil unions for same sex couples. Even Edwards seems to be coming around to realizing this (based on interview I saw him do) and he's a white boy from North Carolina.
