"The truth is rarely pure, and never simple." Oscar Wilde wrote these words once, some time ago, and they hold true to this day. Though I may have discussed the truth in a previous post, events have led me back to this line of thought, and thus, to this line of conversation ( Read more... )

As your brother I have a right... nay, a duty... to be cruel to you. Therefore, I shall not stay the cold blunt maul of truth and will, in fact, take the monkey grip feat just so I can add an offhand pickaxe of reality.

Aside from that, however, I could not agree more with your assessment of the truth. I'm a fairly honest man, myself, and all too often have I come to the realization that there are truths which are far better left to the dark corners of my mind, where a "little white lie" can be a far more effective way of reaching a more desirable conclusion. Is this train of thought wrong? Perhaps to the sensitive, delusioned folk who wish for more drama in their lives than they can handle. People of our blood are all too used to the drama we cook up for ourselves. Why subject the unprepaired to such realities when it's only going to make things worse?

And again... I've always preferred left.
