day 02 - your first love
I have a lot of first loves, depending on how the word is used. The very first love I remember is just a warmth. It was all I really had left of my time before Destiny Islands, I guess; my love for my grandfather. My first love for friends belongs to Riku and Sora, both the same. If you'd asked me a few years ago about my first romantic love, I would have said either one of them, too.
But they're not. They were my first crushes, the both of them. Or maybe it was just that I couldn't fathom loving people who weren't related to me by blood as much as I love them, without it being romantic in some way. No, my first love was Axel.
If I were a different Kai, the one who stayed in the Room of Requirement and went on to develop a relationship with both Axel and Riku, my answer would probably be the both of them. But I never really fell in love with Riku because of the timing when I came to the Dressing Room. It took a long time for my love for Axel to develop into more than a crush as it is.
I could probably wax poetic about him for hours, even if he doesn't think he's anyone special, but I won't. Besides, maybe it's just the way I am, or what I am, but I could do that for my friends, too. What I feel for Axel and what I feel for my friends and family is a lot different, even though it's all love. I just don't know if I could ever explain that difference properly.
