You were brave and strong and I am proud of you for taking care of yourself. I am so sorry that this happened to you though. I remember my mother and I walking home when I was much younger (about 7 years old) and we were mugged. It was very scary. I'm glad you've had training to keep yourself safe. Be very careful please.

Wonder if these might be some of your local gang colors, and you were mistaken for a member of a gang by a rival gang?

Advice: Don't take that route anywhere again, and don't go anywhere alone for a while. If you dropped him, he may feel like he wants to take revenge, and so might some of his friends.

I'm glad you got out of there safely-I've had people run up on me with weapons before, and it sucks as an experience. Good shot on catching him with your skills and using judgment on when to fight and when to run-at least the jackass is paying for it.
