What a terrible day. General malaise, random nightmares, financial problems, the computer crashed again, two French phone companies are trying to destroy us . . . and other assorted frustrations. Then I look at the news, and in addition to the absolutely *horrifying* catastrophe ravaging Asia right now, I see this headline -

One less intelligent person for America.For the world in general but America really has a shortage these days.To be honest I had a feeling someone great would die these days.I just assumed it would be me.

Yes, might we all take a moment to pay due respects to this marvelous author,champion of literature,queer studies, and translator. She was indeed a remarkable woman and her strong presence will be missed in the world of literature.
