1. I got fired from UC Berkeley a bit over a month ago, which ended up being a pretty awesome thing actually. Unemployment isn't half bad, I have enough hours at tutoring to help me get by, and I have people out there who are willing to help me make ( Read more... )

I never heard back from NeuroFocus about the job I applied for (even though they seemed really optimistic and encouraging when I applied... never trust what people say about your hireability during a job interview) but that's fine by me because I got the job at the Freeman lab at UC Berkeley! I can't believe I'm down to writing in this thing once a month. I think it's because people have mostly migrated over to other means of keeping track of folks - facebook, twitter, tumblr, whatever. But I've never felt like any of those sites are a good medium for actually getting to the meat of what's going on with me. So LJ it is.

Just finished reading House of Leaves. What a trip/journey/interesting read. It took me only a few days to read it, and the bulk of it was done in two days. Those two days were pretty intense, I'll admit.

1. Moving in a week. Kinda looking forward to it. I've been through a lot in this house and I'll be glad to start new. things happening now:

1. I did something awful to my neck and now I can hardly move it properly without excruciating pain. Boo. So a while ago I found this article on the NYT website and posted it on my facebook. The response I got from it was striking - so many people said it resonated with them so strongly, and some said that it helped them come to terms with some deep unsettling dissatisfaction they've been experiencing with the path they're on. • An HIV vaccine developed in Canada has passed animal tests and is awaiting authorization to start clinical trials in the US.
