I'll tell you a story since it's hard to do when you're there (since you always are already telling a story, thus I can't get the rest of my story-ness in).

Old mount costs were changed to new so that you could buy multiple mounts cheaper, so you couldn't skip mount levels (like not buy a regular mount and only get your epic to save $$$), and so that drop mounts were worth less monetary value. But the total cost of an epic was 800 before and after the change (epics today are cheaper). An Alterac Valley ram was 640 full package though. I borrowed 210 gold two days after hitting 60 and paid in back 2 days later. I told people later "I had my epic within 2 days of hitting 60". The response was always "LOL, gold buyer." Every single time. People in real life, and virtual life, are just BAD with money. And they ALL think they're good with it. Just don't tell people how much you have and don't tell them you bought your first epic on the day you hit 60 and no one will grumble.
