"Sorry!" Max called out, "I didn't hear the shower over the music."

She wandered out from beneath the lower level, pulling on dishgloves, and looked up at her housemate on the upper level. Her very shiney housemate. Sparkling clean. Not to mention naked.

"And you're all blingy again. You never did tell me about how you achieved your 'new look' incidentally." Max hadn't asked Emma about what had happened in that deathtrap, affording her the same respect she'd give a fellow soldier. She figured that if Emma wanted to talk about it, she would. The bling, though, that was something else. "...Something you found in Cosmo?"

"Yes Max," Emma replied drolly. "It's an upgrade." She turned, disappearing from sight for a few moments and returning in her satin gown and bunny slippers.

She padded down the stairs. "Coincidentally? Buggered if I know. It just happened while we were in that damn rubix cube of doom. One moment it's impending death and a nice lie down, the next," she twirls as she steps off the bottom step, her gown flowing out around her, the edges catching over one ear of her slipper. "I'm a bloody lawn ornament."

"But a very sparkly one..." Max appraisingly eyed her roomie. "So you took being petrified to a whole new level. Almost looks like diamond... I wonder how many carat you are..." She smirked deviously, then let the teasing expression fade. "...Musta been hell in there, Boo."

Emma paused on her way to the kitchen bench and coffee. "Max, if I wake up in a pawn store, I'll come looking for you and I will find you."

Her voice softens as she keeps moving to the bench. "It was...if it wasn't Hell, Lucifer can now outsource."

"Wouldn't happen on the job." Max gave a small tense smile. "On the job I'm one hundred percent focussed. Guess I'm a little pre-occupied. Sorry 'bout the glass, sometimes I forget my own strength."

She held out her hand for Emma to tend to. Though the cut was fairly deep, the flow of blood from the wound was already beginning to slow.

"Yeah. He gave it to me for safe keeping when he got out of that deathtrap... And then I gave it back to him. Didn't want to - I hate guns - But I did. And yeah, I laid it out for him. He promised to get firearms training, but I still don't like it."

"I'm not entirely enamoured of the idea myself," Emma muttered, tending to Max's klutz-field hand. "When he found the damn thing? Shane and I tried to convince him it was pointless, but he seemed to take it on as a safety blanket."

She looked up. "Which I get. I mean, honestly, three days in that place? I was about ready to sleep with Rodney say 'Screw it' and get down to some serious drinking."

"My biggest concern isn't even that he's going to shoot someone." Emma continued, looking down to inspect the damage, her eyebrows emoting away. "It's that he's going to up and play 'Hero', and draw attention to himself when he should be hiding behind something solid...like me. Overestimating himself is just as bad as underestimating himself."

She paused, looking at Max with wide eyes. "And when the Hell did I start getting parental?"
