but let a splinter swerve -

I love getting mail. So you can imagine how ecstatic I was when a package came last week from my dear friend Heidi, containing (among other things) a new inspiration journal. With blank, unlined pages. In eggplant purple.

I added Creators to my "to read" list on Goodreads---it sounds really interesting! I'm in the middle of re-reading Northanger Abbey, which makes me want to make a bunch of regency dresses and bonnets, and then I'll read about the Pilgrims and early America in Mayflower and I want to go finish all my cleaning & mending and be more productive. :)

I just started Creators last night, and so far it's FANTASTIC - I just about started crying reading the first chapter. NA is such a great book - did you watch the recent BBC adaptation?

I did---I thought it was the best out of the three that have aired so far, but considering the other two were HORRIBLE, I suppose that isn't saying much. :) But it made me want to re-read NA again, and it's much better than I remember it (although I had only read it once before and that was eons ago). What did you think of the latest Austen adaptations? (that is assuming you've watched them all, haha)

Yes, I watched them all, and concur with your opinions! I loved NA, though, and have even asked for it for my bday. I was also pleasantly surprised by "Miss Austen Regrets" - not the sappy biopic I was expecting, and represented Austen's voice remarkably well, I thought!

Im sure you could have never guessed, but I too am also heavily influenced by the world of literature. ;) From on Lit major to another (who also cannot write), I find that the mediums of literature and art/fashion are so interconnected. I find myself automatically using elements from literature in my creative outlets and finding fashion in my readings.

Absolutely! Another book which has been on my reading list, which you may also enjoy, is _The Fashion System_ by Roland Barthes. He talks about the semiotics of clothing and the importance of language in the fashion industry - a trifle heady, but fascinating nonetheless!
