I dunno, I never liked Stephen Colbert that much, but apparently he's much funnier on his new show than he was on the Daily Show, from what I've heard.
Firefly is good, but it's hardly The Bestest Thing Ever. I mean, it's still Joss Whedon, and therefore never quite loses a certain juvenile air (and I don't mean that in the good way). It's way better in that respect than any of his other stuff, though.
On being happy when something bad happens to people you can't stand: No, it doesn't make you a bad person. It makes you a person.
On crushing on unavailable people: It might be bad luck. It might also be a sign of internal conflict, that part of you feels you need a boyfriend and part of you doesn't want one, so they compromise by settling on someone unavailable and therefore safe.
Anonymous commenting is both lame and creepy. Most of the anonymies (I hereby claim credit for that word) on my journal, fortunately, put their name in parantheses at the bottom of the comment, which makes it okay.
Anonymous commenting memes or the memes where a person says 10 statements and you have to guess who it's about are horrible things that only create drama. And if there's anything that really sucks in this world it's people who like to create internet drama amongst people they know in real life! >:o
I think only very insecure people find anonymous commenting lame. And it's really funny to call a group of people lame, and then say "no offense". The entire point of calling people lame is to offend.
And the "gay"/"stupid" thing goes a lot farther than gay meaning homosexual. People forget the word ACTUALLY means happy. When a word gets too many connotations, it becomes weak and therefore doesn't really matter. I say "That's gay" and yeah...I'm half gay, so maybe I'm oppressed? I never mean it to imply that homosexual people are stupid.
Yeah I have to agree with you. Gay is happy but that just makes saying "that's gay" even more diluted. That's why I call things Jewish. Or because I am sensitive, I've been known to say "That's a pretty Hebrew thing of you to do." XD:
Haha it's all in good fun and probably only .01% of folks use use gay as stupid mean in in a purely derogitory way.
I'm really tired of people making assumptions. Look, I never said it was derogatory. I just think that, in today's society especially, it is generally only used to describe homosexuals. So when someone says "that's gay" about something they think is dumb or silly or whatever, it irks me a little. That's all.
This entry was written when I was in a really good mood. I was just being silly and light. Maybe it came out like the things I mentioned are absolutely horrible and people who do them should be shot, but I didn't mean it that way. I'm just sharing my personal opinions. Seriously, make your anonymous comments and call things as gay as you would like. I just won't. The end.
*sigh* I didn't call the people lame. It's just a hobby or action (whatever the right word is) that I personally think is silly. And I said "no offense" because I truly don't care if other people enjoy it. I just feel that it often does cause undue drama, like Kristen said. I don't see the point, but I don't mind if other people do. And I certainly don't see what insecurity has to do with it. Sorry if you were offended.
As for the "gay"/"stupid" thing, we'll just have to agree to disagree.
