decisions, decisions

I sat down to start writing my personal statement today for vet school (for my third time applying, grrr) and I was thinking about if I really want to go through all of this. Not the application process, but all 4 years of school plus learning how to do things on the job for a couple years. If I get in to start Fall 2007, I won't be done with ( Read more... )

ahhh...you and me are in the same boat =(

right now..i'm accepted into the tech school starting fall 06...but i'm debating if its what i want to do. for me..i just dont know if i can stand being like an "Assistant" the rest of my life...

also... vet tech's make almost no money. but at the same time, i love working with animals.

i've been tossing around the idea of med school..osteopathic medicine..and doing nursing in fall 06 instead of vet tech since you make more money as a nurse..then if i dont get into med school, i'll have the nurse thing as a back up.

too many choices...it's so hard to decide, i hate it =/

good luck deciding...you make some really good points, honestly, i totally agree on the family/friends thing...

I think your plan of applying to both is a good idea. Don't stress yourself out trying to decide which program is best for you now. Apply and then forget about it and one day, it'll hit you and you'll know that you would rather be a vet or would rather be a vet tech... either way, you'll still be doing what you love, working with animals. As to the family thing, I think that with either choice, you'll make it work. You'll totally be able to juggle a career and family.

You are an amazing person and I know you will be great at whatever you do. I agree with Sue. Just keep all your options open and the right path will be shown to you :)!

All the pinko hippy stuff aside, how much money would you make as a vet tech and how much more money would you make as a veterinarian? Lets be honest, if you're not going to be comfortable enough financially to have your hippy fun with your "friends" then it won't be worth it. Although, if I had a chance to take a less honorable job that provided enough money for me to be happy I wouldn't be sweating anything. Now-a-days, we all know that cash rules everything around us. Green; get the money, dollar, dollar bill yall.
