Went to see the doc today...

The good news? She said that I do not have bronchitis. The bad news? I need to stop being an idiot, and actually get my daily inhaler refilled BEFORE it is empty. Oh yeah, and I should probably keep taking the allergy meds, and not stop once I start feeling better. As the doc puts it, "The reason you feel better is because it is working. That ( Read more... )

I have been having great success with nettle leaf as an allergy preventer pill thingy. Just go to Whole Foods, or wherever, and get a bottle of nettle leaf capsules (powdered herb form). Two pills, three times a day. :)

Thank you soooo much! I'll definitely try that! I'll have less issues with taking something herbal as opposed to doing Claritin every day.

In my opinion, western medicine is far too focused on relieving the sypmtoms as opposed to dealing with the actual problem. And I feel like a lot of the medications that they prescribe have not been around long enough for them to truly know what the long term effects are.

*nodnodnods* I completely agree. That's actually why I've been doing acupuncture for the last 5-6 years or so. I've got a friend down there in Alameda (but she has an office in SF, too, I think) who's an acupuncturist, if you're interested. Her website is www.cicutoacupuncture.com. She's very cool. Our kind of people. :)

For reference, I've been taking the Solaray nettle. Gaia has some nettle, but they're like liquid gel caps, and I wasn't sure how my body would like that. I've taken Solaray products often before, and they've always been good to me. A bottle of 100 should be about $5-10. If you can't find it on the shelf, there's a good chance there will be an 'allergy' table in the main vitamin type area, and that's where the bottles will be (I had that problem last time I went in... why they pulled ALL the nettle from the shelves and put it on the table, instead of just the backstock, I'll never know).

Thank you again!! I've been very curious about the acupunture, but really kinda wanted a recommendation as opposed to blindly picking someone out of a phone book. I'll check out her website. :)

"Daily" is what the doc says. I don't take it anywhere close to "daily". ;P

But yeah, the more info I have the better!

*hugs*
