I just had a couple get the shits with me at work because I can't lift a 1.9m hardwood bench seat because I'm pregnant. The man said "don't you want to do anything?" and I said "sorry, I can't, I'm 5 months pregnant". And his wife snapped back at me "well, he is 80 and I am 81!"
Why are people so mean?

People are awful. Everyone was always telling me, "Oh, people are SO NICE when you're pregnant! Always holding doors for you, carrying your groceries!" NEVER happened for me. Except when we went to Vegas. Apparently, Canadians are nice, but I've found that Americans are way nicer! I parked in the "Expectant Mothers" spot at the grocery store once when I was 8 months, and someone yelled at me and called me lazy! I couldn't walk for more than 50 feet without puking, and I got yelled at. I cried! I never parked there again. =(

Just don't let them guilt you into doing things you can't! Take care of that bb!

They're idiots. Sorry but that just anoys me. What because they are older they think you should risk your health and the wellbeing of your baby for them? That's just damn rude.

I really think entering any sort of retail environment is just bound to bring out the worst in people. Maybe it's the "customer is always right" mentality, idk. Good for you though for standing your ground and not lifting things you shouldn't--when I worked retail, I lifted way too many things that I shouldn't have (never been pregnant, just have a bad back) because I let customers intimidate me. I think the main thing to remember is that your health (and that of your baby) will never be worth less than some stranger's momentary inconvenience. It's not a pissing contest over who is less able to do something, you or the customer. Just find a co-worker who is able to help and remember that if they give you grief about it, it's their problem, not yours.
