I have been lurching around in a twilight world of foggily remembered conversations, snoozes on the couch, caffeine drips, Lean Cuisines microwaved at 1am, and occasions where I have found myself parking the car somewhere, and not remembering actually driving there. One might think that I should be checking into AA right now, but in fact I have ( Read more... )

'paps you can go to the Craft Show in vegas next year with my mum who recently mentioned she's planning to go. it brought back hideous memories and made me so thankful to now be an adult (kind of). i was so bored and cranky when she'd take me to material, pattern or wool shops as a kid. bitch and moan and demand to be taken to the skate store...a craft show would contain all the things i hated at that age: old women (well i hated them then); bolts of material (smelly and boring); balls of wool (not too bad); cross stitches of cats and houses (pukey); dolls (scary); and really bad water colours (no explanation necessary)...

i wondered what i'd turn to as an old lady and decided gardening and writing would be the limit of my creative endeavours...no kitsch for this old bag! i don't mind trying to draw things but really it's just embarassing for everyone. and i can no more imagine quilting a blanket than i can whipping up a watertight canoe from a few reeds.

enjoy the countdown.

Look, don't come back to Qld, because once you are within my sphere of influence you may find yourself desiring to quilt! My sister, the one who can't even sew on a button, has last night announced her new hobby - QUILTING!

PS: I would love to go with your Mum to the Craft Show, I will be the daughter she always wanted! "Oo, lets go sit in on the macrame demonstration! Look over there, a teddy bear made out of old pantihose!"
