Summer
Hey all...
So I kinda disappeared from lj land this summer, mostly because I was too tired to update, but also because I was just way too lazy. It was a pretty uneventful summer, but at least I'll be back to BSC in 3 DAYS!!!! Hmmmm...since my last update I worked 8 weeks at Flax Pond. Weeks 1-5 I was a special needs 1-on-1 with a nine year old boy. When he was good things were great, but when he was bad I ended up with I ton of bruises. He took a lot of energy out of me everyday, always gotta be one step ahead of him. Week 6 he left cuz he was done for the season, so I was a regular counselor for a while...it wasn't too bad, definately bonded with a few of the Unit 1 counselors...they made life with the 7 and 8 year olds ok. At the end of week 6 was my 21st Birthday...it SUCKED, but hey...life goes on. Week 7 came and I was a regular counselor half of the week for Unit 2...my favorite unit! Halfway through the week I became a 1-on-1 again for the girl that I had last year. She's grown soooooooo much, it was pretty amazing to see the changes she'd made. Week 8 I was with her too, and she and I definately bonded again this year. The last day of week 8 was as always crazy and sad all at the same time. I cried again, as did much of the staff, as we said goodbye to all the sobbing kids while we were playing "Leaving on a jet plane", and even though I swore it was my last year...I'm not so sure that it is...Steph Rufo has a way of changing your mind about everything! Through the 8 weeks of camp we did some fun things....there was fiesta day, spooky day, spirit week, the track meet, staff softball, the tennis tournament, and we ended it all with mardi gras day. We had so many games, so much candy, dunk tanks, moon bounces, spin art....I LOVE FLAX POND! We also had our staff banquet, which was amazing...I FINALLY got an award....2 actually. I got the five year award...woooooooo! I also got the I am 3rd award, which is one of the most amazing awards to get because its for the person that puts the kids and their job before themself....and the staff votes on it. It was a good time...lots of food and fun was had by all. Other then camp I had some wonderful visits that I mentioned last time...plus Amy came down one day to see me, and Steph came down again to say see you later...since she's leaving BSC. I also went to some amazing concerts....Dave Matthews, Fuel, and my FAVORITE by far.....MAROON 5 and JOHN MAYER...OMG, that was most amazing show I have ever been to. My 2 favorite bands together, it was great...I sang every song, I was so close, it was great!!! Ok...I think thats everything...I'll try to update more from BSC...I'm sure I'll add some quizes or surveys soon. Oh yea...and I'll post some pics in a few.
