Sorry, LJ. It's been forever. I haven't posted here in a long time because Facebook is so EASY and this seems like more of a commitment

I thought it was strange that he was dating a girl too. And then I asked if we needed to have the "protection" talk and he said no, she doesn't have a uterus, mom.
Trying not to be upset about "he's not treating her very well". I mean, if they want to date each other and they are happy, who cares?
Being in a relationship with somebody who doesn't really want to relate to me as a woman would be a horrible experience for me. I hope that isn't what's happening to that girl.
hi, new friend via the #2017Revival... I dried out for a year between birthdays 39 and 40. Wrote a bit about it, and happy to talk about it if you like. it's good to know why we drink and stay conscious of it.
Well, if I can't do it, I guess I"ll have to seek help. So I hope it doesn't come to that. There's a drug they use in Finland that blocks the dopamine receptors and it takes the fun out of it. I wish they had that here. I mean they do have it, but good luck getting a doc to prescribe it.
No, that makes sense. I'm like you in that I like to have a glass of wine or a beer with/after dinner. Plus, pretty much all the socializing I do in Smallville involves either drinks, dinner out, or both, which isn't particularly good for my health. I'm not going to abstain completely from drinking for a month, at least not in January, but will be more careful about how much, when, and why I'm drinking. My goal is to stop drinking out of boredom and to limit myself to no more than two in a night and five in a week when I do drink.
I relate to the "drink too much but not wanting to give it up completely" thing. I too am going dry in January partly to get out of the habit of drinking on a daily basis, but also because I want to lose weight and get back to regular exercise.
Just thought you'd like to know you're not the only one struggling with this.

There actually is an app and apparently Dry January is a *thing* in the UK. Who knew? Anyway, I'm hoping I can make it. My mom gave me a case of wine for Christmas. But it's all Chardonnay. UGH. I think it was a cruel joke.

Yeah, the big temptation for me tends to be during hockey games and happy hours. My solution to both is basically to avoid the latter, and just stick with water at the former. At this point, it's less an "I want to be healthier" thing so much as an "I've been overdoing it and the heartburn I've been feeling is a clear message that I need to slow the fuck down". Also, it's easier to run in the morning when you're not hung over.

Yeah mine is just when I get home from work I want to relax and I have a glass of wine that turns into a bottle of wine. My husband doesn't drink so maybe I should just not go to the store for all of January! ha! I can order groceries online.
I don't run because I'm fat, but I think I might join OrangeTheory for a bit to see if that works for me. I have to be forced to exercise and classes seem to help. We have a big 10 day vacation in st. Lucia in February and I'd like to at least be able to not get winded going up a flight of stairs. Actually I don't get winded going up a flight of stairs now, but you know what I mean. I almost finished a couch to 5K once, but it's too cold out to do that now. Maybe in the spring.

younger kid is gay and dating a trans girl
Hmm. He's either not a homo or he's not treating her very well at all. Trans girls are girls.
Probably not AA
Good call. Their success rate is something like 60%.
I think I need to listen to more music and watch less TV.
I think that's true of pretty much everybody.
