Character name: Brigitta
Genre (TV/books/etc): Books
Fandom: Demonata

Canon point: Slightly AU but comes from just before book 7 (Death’s Shadow)

Programmed Possession: Her sword.

Abilities/Weaknesses: -Can use magic, though that won’t apply so much in Taxon since there are no Demonata
-Good at using swords and daggers and most things with blades
-Can dance a little
-Can embroider a little
-Can play the lyre (though not very well)
-Good at climbing
-Rather agile
-Good at languages, she can speak three (Greek, Latin and English) fairly fluently and knows how to converse shakily in a few others
-Good at covering things up, her emotions don’t show that much.
-She freezes up in complete darkness or enclosed spaces, a side effect of her long imprisonment
-Is absolutely hopeless with guns
-Cannot cook to save her life
-She’s not that good at anything modern, she’s got the hang of a few things but anything very modern (such as computers) Will make her very confused
-Was nearly illiterate, she’s trying to learn but she is still rather slow at reading things.
-She can’t bear anymore children, she’s completely infertile (Not that it counts as a actual weakness that’ll come into play but still)

Psychology/Personality: Well, Brigitta can definitely be termed as a little messed up… But then again she was kidnapped and raped by a demon, ripped apart by the Minotaur just after giving birth to a half demon son and forced to spend 5000 years trapped in a cave so that’s really to be expected.

Really Brigitta is doing remarkably well considering all those things, she looks like just a normal, often rather shy girl.

Brigitta is rather shy around unknown company, she tends to keep her eyes down around people she doesn’t know and keeps her voice quiet unless particularly roused… And yet she does really want to get to know people, she’s been without company for many years and even if she isn’t very loud at times she tends to gravitate to large groups of people like a moth to a flame.

She’s also highly imaginative, a dreamer by nature Brigitta is always dreaming of something better and she can picture things extremely clearly in her head, something which kept her from going completely insane in both her imprisonments.

Not to say that she isn’t a little insane by today’s standards, she’s experienced the world of the Demonata in close detail and her morals are a little eroded as a result, she knows that stealing and killing to keep herself alive are wrong but if the situation came to that she’d do it and not look back. Brigitta has experienced too much to judge most of the time on human morals.

Really Brigitta can be said to have PTSD, she still has nightmares as a result of her experiences in the Demonata’s universe and partially as a result she has great trouble in getting to sleep, sleeping only when she absolutely needs to and then only in short bursts if she can help it.

She can also not cope with enclosed spaces and completely dark places, contact with such things will make her hysterical and if that contact is sustained she’ll probably start going insane. She usually avoids talking about the dark, enclosed spaces and demons too, she won’t go completely hysterical if forced to talk about them but she will often be brought to tears if she talks.

She’s also hyper-vigilant, meaning that she is always studying her environment, since she was trained to act as a future queen she is extremely good at covering this up but she is still always assessing the area around her and often has at least one weapon concealed in her clothing just in case.

Brigitta was being trained to be an eventual queen, as such she’s very good at hiding her emotions and putting on an act, she doesn’t usually feel the need to act but occasionally she will completely repress things beneath a mask, this is another potential reaction to being forced to confront her fears.

The final thing to bear in mind with Brigitta is that she is fiercely maternal; she was parted from her son only a few moments after he was born and has never held Beranabus or had much interaction with him… She still feels extremely connected to him though, and basically has the maternal instincts of a bear. Beranabus is the one person she will face her every fear for; just to make sure he’s safe… With other people she does care but she’d be willing to sacrifice almost anybody if it meant that her son was safe or if it prevented humanity from being wiped out, Brigitta isn’t a cruel person but she can be overly practical, she sees most people as expandable.

So that’s Brigitta, just your completely average, completely damaged person.

…Whose son looks like her grandfather.

History: Once upon a time there was a girl named Brigitta, from her birth she had been promised to a prince who was about ten years older then her and was thus taught to do little queenly type things like making tapestries and dancing and was also brainwashed into thinking that her basic purpose was to be quiet and force out babies.

Apart from that she had a fairly nice childhood, she had girls who were friends with her and boys who all secretly had a crush on her but kept their hands off for fear of a prince eating them or something, everything was perfect.

Until she reached sixteen, when she was about to get married to this prince, but the prince had impregnated a princess, so the scorned priestess set a demon on the wedding party with instructions to make the princes new wife suffer.

The demon (A lesser demon but still more powerful then the terrified Brigitta) kidnapped Brigitta and took her to the Demonata’s universe, dragging her through lots of realms, raping her and then getting her pregnant, sending her back when she was sufficiently advanced enough for it to show.

The prince was disgusted by Brigitta and sent her off to be eaten by the Minotaur, with everything covered and her mouth bound so that nobody would recognize her and protest.

Of course by this point she was on the cusp of giving birth, and while trying to escape the Minotaur was hard already it was even harder when nine months pregnant with a baby who was potentially going to be a mutant mix between demon and human.

Eventually Brigitta did give birth, and then was immediately killed and eaten by the Minotaur, who then adopted her son and raised him… Luckily (Unluckily?) Brigitta actually found herself a resident of the walls of the Labyrinth and so spent a relatively okay few years wandering around in the walls after baby Beranabus (who remained a baby for about fifty years due to his demon blood) and the Minotaur, feeling fairly happy with life… Until Theseus came along, killed the Minotaur, and forced her son to wander out of the Labyrinth into a brave new world… Leaving Brigitta behind.

This lead to the a thousand years alone, in the dark with no company at all… Until archaeologists found the labyrinth, a weapon called the Kah Gash activated and Brigitta popped back to life in a very surprised way.

Immediately thinking her to be a trespasser they kept her prisoner in a tent… But Brigitta broke out rather easily, intending to run to the nearest town and get her bearings in this strange new world.

On the way she was intercepted by a guy called Kirilli who immediately discovered that she had no clue how to speak English or even modern Greek… Now Kirilli was rather hopeless but he did know a spell to give people knowledge of languages (which shall hence be referred to as the Babel-spell) and taught Brigitta it so she could understand him.

Brigitta latched onto the Babel-spell rather easily and got Kirilli to explain to her what exactly was going on… He explained about the Disciples as well, and upon hearing the name Beranabus Brigitta decided to stick with Kirilli in the chance of finding her son.

So she followed him around for a few months, they stopped demon attacks, fought bad guys and generally Brigitta was rather happy, hopeful that she would find her son and save the world… Of course, that’s the point where I’ll be taking her from.
