I have already posted about the Kevin Smith issue on Twitter and on Facebook, so I'm sorry if you have heard me bitching already. However, this issue is INCREDIBLY important to me, and I am using every forum I can to talk about it

I've been really aggravated about this lately because I feel like people are using health care as a platform to bash fat people. Like, it's ok to be biased against fat people because they make our health care costs go up. Which to me sounds like some made up bullshit designed to turn the people against each other instead of the real enemy: the bloated insurance companies and the messed up system. So now it's like people feel justified in their weightism so they are more open about it. I had a friend from high school be a total shit on Facebook to me after he posted something about how great it is that Whole Foods is discriminating against their employees based on weight.
The moral panic about weight is completely ridiculous.
I say this because right now I am reading an article about how childhood obesity has to be headed off by the age of 3 months. Really? Really? I hate that children are held to the BMI "standard" after the age of 2. And I think that restricting fat in their diet is going to lead to a whole lot more stupid people.
Leave babies alone. And leave everyone else alone while you're at it, fatphobic community. Fat does not "cause" health problems.
from what I read, it sounds like the facts are disputed: the flight attendant said he didn't fit, but Kevin said was in the seat with both armrests down and his belt fastened. (I wish every passenger did this! I treat the armrest as a DMZ and respond ruthlessly to aggressive attempts to invade it.)
Anyway, if he can fit between the armrests, I'd sit next to him. Being stuck on a plane next to a moderately fat dude is way better than enduring screaming children, spoiled teenagers who yell and throw things, angry 'roid dudes, and people who try to convert me to join their evangelical cults. (True stories!)
