I told him to ask for help--he didn't seem to want it. He holds something in him that does not seek reason, does not wish to simply be at peace. He is desperate; he is vengeful.

[He can't help the cough but the break oddly seems only to emphasize his words.]

He may not keep his word.

[Lengthy, deliberating pause.]

The people do not deserve to suffer. Let him have what he wants if he promises to do as he says. Let us see if he will hold honor even if for a little while. If the worst comes of this--we will stand together. As you have said, we will fight and hold true.

Give him the vaccine.

...Thank you. Though this decision involves a huge amount of risk, this may be the best possible choice for both sides. No one deserves to suffer.

Hollisland and Discedo are not on good terms. Knowlton might have been thinking that scientists would not easily given in to his demands and decided to resort to kidnapping some of us, their precious guinea pigs. When your mind is clouded with emotions of desperation and vengeance, it's difficult to make the proper choices.

I am well aware.

Assumptions get nobody anyway. If he were cut out for the type of mission he was sent out to complete he would not have made any. Perhaps he did not have even time to come to the right conclusion--we are not the scientists and do not consider ourselves allianced with them. Reason enough to at least ask.

...Berating him now we get nowhere though. Do as you must.
