Just... fuck :(

I have been going to college for the last week, sort of introduction to college but it does not start for months. I really hate to say it but I hate college. It was so hard to get in and I'm very lucky to get a place in a good well-known college. So I should be happy and having fun doing something I love, acting. It's only a week but it is not as ( Read more... )

Is the school expensive? I think you need to bring up your concerns to your parents, even if they might not be the happiest. It's not worth paying for something and spending so much time on something that you hate. I mean, some schools are just not for certain people. There should be other schools you can go to, other choices, right? And since you haven't been going for very long, you might even be able to get a refund on your tuition if you drop out sooner, rather than later.

My advice is definitely not go on with it if you're so unhappy. It will not be good for anyone, and it will probably not end up helping you much in the future. And talk to your parents, who might have some good advice, too? =/ *hug* I hope things work out better...

you're right, and thank you for your advice. My parents still don't want to hear it since it was a lot of effort and money to get me a place. In the end I spoke to a friend who was willing to listen, he also has a unique way of always seeing the world in a positive light... he helped me get through the bad days. But now I find it is more settled, the performance did not go as badly as I feared, and I have made some friends and keeping in contact :) I feel a lot happier now. I could still try to get a place in another college but it would be very difficult, and now I feel it will be worth continuing here in the end.

I agree with blood_sorbet. Don't do something if it makes you this upset. There could be another school out there which you'll love more. Not every school and every person are a perfect fit.

That being said, I used to hate UPenn with a fiery passion and considering leaving/transfering/dropping out so many times it's almost humorous. But looking back at it now, I've come to realize that it was all done for the right reasons.

At the end of the day, you're the only one who can decide if it's truly worth it or not, and I'm sure you'll come to the decision... whatever it may be.

*Big huggle* Best of luck gal!

Thank you for your encouragement :) There are many other colleges that do the same or similar course but not as professional as this place. The last two days went a lot better :) Even though I still hate some things about the college (too many breaks!! >.<)I can see now it is a very professional environment, with very good equipment (professional recording studios and a green screen/room :D)also made a few friends, so I do like it a bit now ;p I think it will be worth it in the end :)

I think you should - like the previous two commentors said - bring this issue up, if not with your parents straight away, then perhaps with a trusted friend.

Of course, you have just started so you may settle in and become accustomed to the pattern of university. So don't lose hope or faith yet!

It is still worth having a chat though with someone just so your concerns are aired, your friend(s) & family may even be able to make uni easier for you. And as blood_sorbet pointed out: not all univerisities are for everybody. We all have a place for us somewhere!

Thankyou for your advice :) My parents are still not willing to hear I have a problem with the college, as it was a lot of effort and money to get me a place. But I did speak to a friend and he has been there for me when I felt sad, it makes it easier to have some one to vent frustrations too. The last days went a lot better and the performance was not as bad as I feared. I also made some new friends and keeping in contact, so I feel a lot happier now :)
