Chapter 3: Rose Garden
Fire, fire, and fire. The snow white village is covered by scarlet blazes. He yells, as loud as his voice can be, and as hard as he can before he tears his throat apart, but there are no responds, not a single sound besides the burning of the flames.
He is alone, alone in this deserted little village. How long has it been like this? He knew not. Days and years have passed, he lives on the dry remains of those he killed at that crimson night.
Until…
The door opens as Yabu walks in with a clear glass of red wine, or whatever he names it to be.
He sits down on the sofa across from the boy who still has his eyes closed. “I got scold because of your mumbling.” said Yabu.
“Technically that doesn’t count as mumble, I didn’t make a single sound.” Comes the reply.
He opens his eyes and smirks slightly, though fails to hide the grief caused by his daydream moments ago.
“Takaki, are you still thinking of what happened that day?”
“I can never forget what they did!” He frowns, “and I’ve got my revenge.”
Yabu sighs as he stands up and walks toward the window with thin curtains covering it. Leaning against the wall, he said while turning his head slightly to look outside the curtains, “and that should be the end…”

Kaiyu looks up at the tall tower, and felt a sudden glimpse from one of the windows.
It’s already sunset, but she still couldn’t find the way back to Orchid Garden.
A boy comes out from the gate of the brick building she’s walking pass. He looks around as if searching for someone, and gleams as he spotted her.
“Awesome, another correct guess.” Kaiyu heard him said before running up to her.
“Come in,” he said pulling her by the wrist toward the gate.
Kaiyu is taken back a little, “who are you?” Nonetheless she follows him inside the gateway. “I’m Shintaro, Morimoto Shintaro.”
After passing by the red coloured roses in the entrance, she sees the other two boys sitting at the small table surrounded by some blue roses.
“You were right again, Yuto nii-san,” said Shintaro running up to the older two, “how’d you manage to know someone’s coming all the time?”
“Lucky guess?” Yuto giggles, “you’re the new girl who came today right?”
Kaiyu looks puzzled, “you know I was coming?” Both her arrival at the school as well as this garden are anticipated, the former a little longer than the later.
Shintaro said excitedly, “Yuto nii-san knows who’s coming even when they’re still far away!”
“Let’s go, Shintaro,” said Ryutaro as he winks at his little brother, “I’m done with work.”
“Oh, okay.” They gather up their notebooks. “Bye Yuto, we’ll come tomorrow.” The brothers walk out the garden, turning around and giggle slightly from now and then before they fully disappear outside the gate.
Yuto whispers a low moan, “those two…”
“So, you were asking?” he said.
Kaiyu comes back to her sense after spacing out at the familiarity of the atmosphere. “Yes, hmm… where’s this? Do you know how to get back to the dormitories?”
“This is one of our dorms,” Yuto replies, “this is Rose Garden.”
She widens her eyes in surprise. “This is Rose Garden? I should be going then, Daiki said we shouldn’t come here.” Taking a step backward to leave the place.
“Wait!” Yells Yuto, “am I that frightening to scare you away?”
Kaiyu halts, she looks at the boy in front of her. He is tall, a little bit pale but charming, with a gentle aura encircling his whole presence. He doesn’t seem to be a person she should stay away from. In fact, it’s just the opposite.
“I’m in your class too, though I missed quite some days ‘cause of my health…” He explains.
“Oh, I see.”
“Hey, Yama-chan! Chi!” Yuto said looking pass Kaiyu to the two who just came back. “How’s class today?” He walks toward them.
“Why’s she here?” Yamada said as he hands Yuto a notebook with today’s lecture notes.
“Aren’t you in the same class too? Be nice, she just got here.”
“Yeah, don’t scare her away.” Chinen adds playfully.
Kaiyu walks up to the trio, “about what happened this morning, I want an…” before she can finish her sentence, though, Yamada runs off again.
“…explanation…” she finishes her line softly.
“It was nothing this morning, he’s like that, it’s normal to him.” Chinen said before following him inside as well.
Yuto stands in awe, eye sight travelling between the girl and his two leaving dorm mates, having no clue on the subject matter.
“Don’t mind him,” trying to lower the intensity of the air, “it’s common for him to keep his distance from others.”
“Buy why?”
Yuto gazes at the closing massive doors. “Not everyone can take their identity casually…”
“Identity?”
Yuto smiles, “it’s a long story…”
Kaiyu gasps as she sees the older boy starts panting for air, lowering himself until he has his knees on the ground, clutching his heart and throat.
“Are you alright?” She kneels down for the boy putting her hands on his shoulders. Yuto grabs her hand tightly as he rolls on his side on the grass, unable to hold himself together.
Kaiyu tries to comfort him but it’s no use, his panting becomes heavier and heavier, his grip harder and tighter. “What should I do?” She said inwardly and attempts to pull Yuto up from the ground, only fails to even move him by an inch.
Two shadows suddenly appear in front of her without a sound. “Yuto!” One of them said as he holds the boy up to his arms.
“Yabu-senpai, will he be fine?” She now recognizes one of them.
Yabu kneels down to check Yuto’s forehead and pulse, “Takaki, get him back to his room. He needs his medication.”
“Alright.” Takaki carries him up the ground and lays his head on his shoulder while picking up his legs, but he still holds firm onto Kaiyu’s wrist.
“Let go.” To her surprise, his words are directed to her.
Yabu breaks up Yuto’s grip and said, “calm down Takaki, he’ll be fine.” After that he dashes off with Yuto at great speed into the building, without turning back.
Yabu then turns to the concerned junior, “now let’s take you back.” He said tenderly.
