Chapter 6: Déjà vu

“How was it?”

“It was fun, I like it very much!”

“I’m glad you do. Where should we go now?”

“How about café?”

“Okay, after that we can go for movie. You said there’s one that you want to watch?”

“Yeah.”

“Let’s go.” He grabs her hand.

They are sipping with two straws out of the same drink. The girl looks at him with eyes filled with happiness.

“Say,” she said to him, “why did you order this? Not that many guys will openly admit that he likes this kind of drinks.”

He leans back to his sit, smile charming as ever, “because it’s lovely, I don’t get why others feel weird when I order this.” He gives her a teasing look.

“I didn’t mean that! I like it too!” She replies anxiously waving her hands back and forth.

He bends forward crossing his arms on the table, “I know.” Beaming brightly as the girl blushes, reddening her white cheeks as she lowers her head, trying to hide them under her bangs.

“Wow!”

She jumps slightly at the slight scare, grabbing the hands on her shoulders, she turns to him.

“You’re late.” She teases.

“Sorry for the wait.”

“It’s fine, I just got here.”

“So I wasn’t late,” he grins, but takes it back when he sees the sarcastically dismayed face of the girl. “No, no, I was joking.”

She giggles, “return for last time,” and grimaces.

“Then… I guess you won’t be needing this?” He takes out two tickets from his pocket and waves it in front of her.

Grabbing his hands to stop the waving, she widens her eyes as she takes a clear look at those tickets.

“This is… their concert! How’d you get them?! I thought they were sold out!”

He slowly closes one eye and wink, putting his index finger on his lips, “se-c-ret.”

She runs as fast as her feet can carry her into a narrow alley. Throwing away her bags on the ground she kneels down next to a boy clutching his head in pain, hands holding tight around his shoulders.

“What’s wrong?!” She asks panicking, “you’re burning.”

But all she gets are the piercing yells from the other boy, panting heavily on the ground as he runs his fist across it, leaving bloody marks on his knuckles.

“Aar!...” He roars, “make it stop!” His gasping stronger than ever, like he’s in desperate need of water down his throat.

She immediately opens her bags and searching through all those laying on the ground, “water… water…” she whispers, and beams as she found her water bottle. She rushes over to the boy and opens it for him, only to be knocked out of her hand.

“No!” He screams.

She feels a strong push, slamming her head against the wall. A burning pain and heat then follow, streaming around her whole body, as if forcing her soul out, she has no control over her consciousness.

She manages to hold out her hand and runs through the boy’s hair. After a very long time, the burning has stopped, and he looks up to her. His gentle gazes are filled with terror and helplessness.

He yells for her name; holding her numb body; catching it before she hits the ground, but she cannot feel them anymore. Nor can she tell when he holds his forehead close to hers, tears trailing down his cheek and falling off hers. She can’t see his face despite their close distance; she mouth out his name, but the voice won’t come out.

“Please! Stay with me!” He cries running his hand over her wet bangs and her cheeks, wiping off the fallen tears. “No… How could I… How could this happen?!...”

She inhales rapidly as her eyes opens abruptly upon her sudden awakening from the dreams. She sits up from her bed, she can feel the sweat all over her body.

Strange… and yet… “What was that…” she whispers.

At the same moment in another room from a distant building, he stood next to the opened window while feeling the slightly cold breeze washing through his face. A hand in his pocket, he looked down on the other which held onto two what are now useless papers.

“Yummy…” Came a sleepy voice on the bed. Chinen was sleep talking again.

He smiled at the younger, wondering what kind of dream he was having…

Letting out a low sigh, he looked at the two small papers again. “I guess we never managed to go see the concert huh…
