Chapter 7: If only we haven't met...
“Please be quiet!” Keito raised his voice to the class.
Hoshino, the vice class committee, proceeded, “our class had decided to perform a stage play at the Festival, does anyone have ideas on the play?”
“Let’s do an action one!” A classmate suggested as he waved an invisible sword in the air while his friend took out another one to fight back.
“Ewe, how do you suppose we’re going to set up the stage?”
“Yeah, and what’re we suppose to cast as?” The girls replied.
“Girls can just be extras.”
“We don’t want boy-centred shows!”
And the arguing went on…
Kaho gazed at her friend, who had been very quiet lately, always seemed to be engaging in her own thoughts and ignored all things around her.
“What happened during my rehearsal period? You changed all of a sudden in that evening when you came back…”
But Kaiyu wasn’t listening though. She stared out her window as usual, face expressionless.
“How about we do ‘The Promise of 1000 Years’ then?” A girl proposed.
“That’s a good idea.”
“What’s that?”
“It’s a recently released debut work of a mysterious writer. The story tells the tale of a Princess and a commoner falling in love, setting in an ancient kingdom in Europe. The princess was supposed to pick her fiancé at her coming-of-age party, but she ended up choosing a commoner that she only knew minutes ago.
“…facing the opposition by the King and their society, they still are in love with each other. So for the sake of it they pulled a run-away but didn’t work out. At the end they die under the Lover’s Tree and made a promise to meet again 1000 years later.”
“It’s such a beautiful tragic romance!” Exclaimed by many (except for the young gentlemen of course).
One of the boys sighed, “sure, whatever… as long as there’re some actions involve, so it won’t be just a pure romance… for GIRLS.” He frowned.
“Good, so it’s decided then.” Keito said.
“Now we need to choose the casts.”
“I want Yamada-kun as the lead role!” said the girl.
The class almost created an immediate disturbance afterward, fighting over as to who should cast as which character. But most certainly, the lead role’s going to land between one of the three most popular guys in their class: Yamada, Chinen, and Nakajima, each giving off their own unique special aura. As for the heroine, almost all boys favoured the fresh transferor from Europe, Kaiyu, where the story was supposingly based on.
None of the chosen main casts participated in the discussion, however; nor did they pay any attention to it at all. Yamada was continue sleeping in his arms, Kaiyu looking outside observing the endless sky while lots were going on inside her head.
“Yuto-kun,” said one of the girls who proposed the play, “will you be willing to write the script for the stage?” She said shyly, afraid of the chances of rejection. The others slowly turned their eyes upon their unfamiliar classmate.
Yuto himself seemed surprised too, although he had come to class every so often, he had little friends to talk with. Being in the Rose Garden, he grades are among one of the highest ranking students in the whole school despite many absences, and also holds charming appearance as well as different sort of charisma like his fellow dorm mates, thus it’s only natural to become one of the central attentions wherever he goes.
“Ah…” He hesitated, not knowing if he could hold up to the expectation.
“Go ahead Yuto,” said Chinen, “you’ve always loved to write, just spill you creativity.” “Better than staying in bed all the time, this helps you pass time.”
Yuto peeked back with a blushed face followed by a scary look in the eye.
“So… Yuto-kun?” Enveloping the classroom with dead silence as the girls were busy exchanging glances with one another, anticipating the answer they desired.
Yuto took a deep breath before replying to the girl, “sure, it’s my pleasure.”

“Seon, let’s leave, run away, together.”
“Are you sure? Can you leave you people, your family behind?”
“Yes, as long as you are with me, we can go anywhere.”
He giggled, “Esther, this is your first rebellion isn’t it?”
“So it would seem.” She smiles.
He took her in his arms and sighed deeply, “you wouldn’t have to do this… if only we haven’t met…”
If only we haven’t met…
“Shu, Kaiyu, the next line.” Came a girl’s voice.
If only we haven’t met…
“Kaiyu?” Said another.
“Huh?” She looked up to the bothered face of her friend innocently.
“Oh right… Sorry, Daiki…” The two let go of each other and took a step back from their previous positions.
“Come on, we can do this, let’s just take it slowly okay?” Kaho walked closer with a script in hand.
The older girl stretched out her hand to the other’s forehead, “are you alright? This is not the usual you.”
“Yeah…” Kaiyu said softly. She turned quickly toward the windows upon a clean ring of bells sounded from behind her just a second ago.
“What is it?” said Daiki as he approached the windows and took a look outside.
“Bells.” She said. “Ringing of bells, did you hear them?”
The two exchanged a confused glance before answering, denied that they had heard any sound just now.
“How strange…” She thought, still staring at the trees out the glass.
Ring…
“Here it is again!” She rushed toward the origin of the sound. Almost knocking Daiki over onto the bed, she caught a white shade that slipped pass under the bright shining sun.
“There was nothing…” Said Kaho concernedly.
Kaiyu even opened the windowpanes and stretched her head out, hoping to find a trace of evidence that can prove her sanity to the two, only to be pulled back by a strong arm and had the window closed behind her.
“Anyway,” Daiki interrupted, “why isn’t the real ‘Seon’ rehearsing with you?”
“I know where you’ll go with this one, you’re going to say how ‘disunited’ they are aren’t you?” Kaho replied.
He shrugged. “Why are you so harsh on me? Did you fall for one of them or what?” Apparently his sarcasm hadn’t been working on her still, because for the next couple of minutes while Kaiyu was absent minded, Daiki was busy jumping and running around the room to avoid the demon girl chasing after him with a deadly paper weapon.
If only we haven’t met…

Down in the dungeon of their building where it’s dark and cold, they were busy setting up a site of preparation for their new friend. Complex like a labyrinth, it was designed so it would be almost impossible to wondered into the place, the same goes to the other way around as well. Just as it was meant for.
“Who’s this newborn? Tell me, tell me.”
Yabu set the candleholder on the dresser, “you will get to meet him soon, Chi.”
“But I want to know now. Hey, Yuyan, you’ll tell me right?”
“Be patient.” Said Takaki.
In a blink of an eye, Chinen had tackled Takaki on the back and arms around his shoulders. Though, before he can fully grasp onto the elder he had his forearm pulled further out just like in martial art tournaments where he was about to get slam on the ground, but with his natural acrobat instincts, he managed to get a hold of himself and landed on his feet while sending another punch with his free hand.
Stopped the fist, Takaki sighed shaking his head, “you’re still 100 years early if you want to beat me.” Said he, pulling closer the criss-crossed arms of his junior’s.
Chinen frowned as he tries to pull back from the other’s grasps.
Yabu closed his eyes upon an incoming scent in the air as he inhale a deep breath to fill up his lungs. Opening them again he said to the younger two. “It had started…”
