Who: Sarah, Etienne.
Where: Formal-Wear Shop.
When: Friday.
What: Shopping.
This Post Is: Closed, as it's an AIM Log.

Sarah: *The Moment she's entered the shop, Sarah's a touch overwhelmed. One side has rows and rows of beautiful gowns, while the other has more dress clothing for men than she even knew existed. She's glad that her dormmate suggested this place, but at the same time, almost wishes it was a little smaller. Eyeing the racks, she has no idea where to begin.* Wow.
Etienne: *Etienne is also rather awed and blinks several times.* Amazing...
Sarah: *Sarah nods.* Yeah. So, er.. What did you have in mind?
Etienne: Hmm. *He thinks for a moment.* Something...classic in style, but in a color other than black, if it is available.
Sarah: *She nods again.* Well, I suppose we'd best start looking, then.* She moves towards the rather daunting racks that house the men's clothing, and looks around. It would probably be better if she had more fashion sense, but.. She did not. At the same time, Sarah tries to ignore the rather hawk-like saleswoman watching them from the register.*
Etienne: *Etienne browses the racks, humming softly. He wonders idly what Colin will be wearing, then blushes slightly.*
Sarah: *Sarah notices the slight stain on his cheeks, and remembers back to a conversation they had earlier and the last dance* Do you think that Lavender's friend is going to be there? *she asks, as she pulls out a neon green outfit jokingly.*
Etienne: *Etienne balks at the neon.* Hopefully not in something like that. *He grins a little.* But I hope that he will be there, yes.
Sarah: *Sarah laughs softly, returning the outfit to the rack and looking back at her friend.* He seems friendly.
Etienne: *Etienne grins and ducks his head slightly.* Yes, he does. He...went on a...blind date, I think is the phrase...with a cousin of Lavender's who goes to Beauxbatons. *He wrinkles his nose.* She...is not a very pleasant person, so I do not take it to heart, one way or the other. *He resumes browsing and attempts to loose the gaze of the saleswoman.*
Sarah: *Sarah looks at Etienne inquisitively.* Did you have to deal with her often? *She picks out something in a dark navy blue and shows it to Etienne, seriously this time. When the bell on the shop door jingles, she's grateful to see the saleswoman look in the opposite direction and smile, likely because the new patron appears to have much more money than the two teenagers.* He doesn't seem like he would like... someone like that, *she says carefully.*
Etienne: *Etienne looks at the navy thoughtfully.* I did not directly deal with her often, but I did know of her. She had a rather superior view of herself. *Nods once. Takes the outfit and holds it up against himself.* Hmm. I like it. *He grins at her and drapes it over his arm.* Indeed, he does not. I hope she was not hurtful to him. *He glances at the now busy saleswoman.* Shall we...make a break for the dresses?
Sarah: *Sarah smiles, glad that Etienne liked her suggestion.* Myself as well- though, if she's like that and they were together for longer than a few minutes... *she trails off, frowning slightly as her gaze travels to the saleswoman.* I think that would be best. *she beings to move towards the dresses with Etienne.* Perhaps you and he will be able to speak- *she begins, only to cut herself off when she spots something at the end of the men's rack and pauses, looking at it thoughtfully.*
Etienne: *Etienne raises his eyebrows.* What did you find?
Sarah: *Sarah holds out the outfit cautiously, wondering if it's a touch too cliche "American Formal in the 80s," but decides that the cut and colour is completely different, and it would look lovely on him...* What do you think of this one?
Etienne: *His eyes light up.* I love it. It is perfect.
Sarah: *Sarah smiles, slightly surprised.* Really?
Etienne: *Etienne beams and nods.* It is.
Sarah: *Sarah grins.* Wonderful.. I suppose I ought to find a dress now, *she says almost reluctantly. She wants to look nice for Astrid, but doesn't want to stand out, either. Heading immediately for the darker coloured gowns, Sarah returns to their previous subject.* I haven't read anything about Colin having a date, at least.. and Lavender and the twin girl seem to put everything like that in the paper..
Etienne: *Etienne nods.* Indeed they do. *He eyes the racks of dresses. As far as women's clothing goes, he mostly just knows what does and does not look good on his mother. He shall endeavor to be helpful, though.* So...how have things been for you?
Sarah: *Sarah flips through the dresses, pulling out a few here and there that are suitably conservative and draping them all over her arm.* Very good.. Astrid and I- well, she's wonderful.
Etienne: *Etienne smiles.* It is good that you are happy.
Sarah: *Sarah smiles.* Thank you... I suppose I should try these ones on... *She smiles at Etienne again and enters the nearby dressing room.*
Etienne: *He glances at Sarah's selections.* All right. *Etienne browses through the dresses, humming again. He finds a few things that he thinks might work and holds onto them.*
Sarah: *Sarah changes, emerging from the dressing rooms in her favorite - a black dress that looks more befitting for a funeral than a Formal.* What do you think of this one?
Etienne: *Etienne blinks and bites his lip thoughtfully.* Perhaps something with more color? It is nice, but something more like this would work better I think. *Shows her a less full-coverage dress.*
Sarah: *Sarah blinks at the dress* I don't know, I-
Etienne: *Etienne feigns a pouts.* But I am sure that it would have a very nice effect on Astrid...
Sarah: *Sarah accepts the dress reluctantly* I'll try it, *she says, not actually upset with Etienne, but still unsure about the dress. She enteres the dressing rooms and changes, finding that the high neckline of the black dress really does make for some difficulty, and once she's gotten into the other, pauses at the mirror before emerging.* It's very loud! *she calls through the door, not sure that she wants to come out.*
Etienne: *Etienne chuckles.* It is very pretty. And I am sure it shall render Astrid speechless, cheri. Now let me seeeeee. *He is excited and has decided he rather likes shopping.*
Sarah: Alright.. don't laugh at me. I don't usually wear things like this. *Sarah hesitantly opens the door of the dressing room and steps out.*
Etienne: *Etienne clasps his hands together.* Oh, that just makes it even more stunning. *He circles her, beaming.* Cheri, you could break all the staright boys' hearts in that dress, it is so lovely. *He has to fight the urge to clap, as it would attarct the vulture saleswoman.* Astrid would love it...
Sarah: *Sarah still looks unsure,* Really? *she asks, blushing.*
Etienne: *Etienne grins.* Most assuredly.
Sarah: *Sarah smiles in return.* I'll take the chance, then. I like yours too. All of the straight girls will be very jealous of whatever Gryffindor you might happen to be talking to, I'm sure of it. *she returns to the dressing room, changing back into her normal clothing.* I suppose this means that we need to speak with... her. *She indicates the woman, who apparently has amazing hearing, as the moment Sarah gets her sentence out, she has swooped down upon the two.*
Sarah: *The saleswoman smiles falsely, asking "all set?" while Sarah shifts her weight.* Yes.
Etienne: *Etienne blinks at the woman, then nods, wide-eyed.*
Sarah: *Sarah follows the saleswoman to the register, wondering if the shop doesn't get as many customers as she would like. Gently placing the dress on the counter, she avoids making eye contact as she pays.*
Etienne: *Etienne pays for his suit and attempts to appear not spooked.*
