Jack was coming out to work on the bath house some more when Little Sheba ran right for him. She pulled up short when she saw him and rubbed against his ankles. Setting down his tools, he scooped her up and began waking back toward Prior.

"You know, you talk to her like that and you just force her into my arms," he teased...but his grin fell when he saw how genuinely upset Prior was.

"What's going on?"

Prior wasn't surprised to see Jack; he seemed to have a knack for showing up at times like this. Though he honestly wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing.

"I..." His response caught in his throat as he tried to think how the hell he could explain what had happened. He couldn't help but feel... almost ashamed, about what had happened, even if it wasn't his fault.

"You should go talk to Scotty," he said, hating how he sounded, almost as if he were trying not to cry. "He's upset."

"I don't think he's the only one," he said, setting Little Sheba on the ground, much to her dismay, and he slipped his arm around Prior's waist.

Prior swallowed hard, and then said, "Not exactly." His eyes flicked toward Scotty's hut. He lowered his head. "Can we go somewhere?" He really didn't want Scotty to look out his window and see him breaking down in the path. "And maybe... maybe I could borrow some pants?"
