February Fandom Stuff

Note: Keep in mind that I am living in Germany, so maybe not all mentioned titles are available in your country.

TV Shows
01. - Schitt's Creek (TV Show, available on Amazon Prime for free) - Season 4, 5, and 6
Schitt's creek is a Canadian television sitcom and tells the story of the formerly filthy-rich Rose family, who is forced to live in a cheap motel in a town they once bought as a joke - Schitt's Creek - after suddenly broke.
I continued to watch this show, I have started last month. And I have to say, I enjoy it more with every season. The characters with all their rough edges are so familiar in the meantime, and, even more interesting, they grow up with every episode without getting inauthentic.

02. - Clickbait (Mini TV Show, available on Netflix)
The life of the Brewer Family is turned around when one day Nick Brewer, father, brother, friend, is missing. Only sometime later, a viral video about some of his dark secrets turns up. Ending with the message that Nick will have to die when the video reaches 5 million views.
An interesting, thrilling journey with some surprises, telling about the danger social media is coming up with. Despite being only a TV show and sometimes not so realistic, it can still make you think about your own consumer behavior on the net.

03. - Inventing Anna (Mini TV Show, available on Netflix)
The show tells the (half-true) story of con woman Anna Delvey, an Instagram-legendary who stole the hearts of New York's social scene and their money as well.
The show is funny and intriguing; if you are willing to watch something different than crime and horror I would highly recommend giving it a try.

04. - Orange is the new black (TV Show, available on Netflix - based on the memoirs of Piper Kerman) Season 1
The show tells the stories of the detainees of the Litchfield Penitentiary, a women's prison in New York.
Yes, I am late with watching the show, but I do enjoy it so far. Okay, some of the stories are a tiny bit over the top. But hey, if you want to find out more about the real situation at a women's prison, maybe you should better a documentary. ;)

Documentaries
01. - The Tinder Swindler (available on Netflix)
This documentary tells the story about a guy who pretends to be a billionaire playboy looking for love on tinder, and about some of his victims.
For me, the narrative perspective of the story reminds more of a TV show with documentary character than a real documentary. For a TV show not interesting enough, for a documentary not objective enough. Nothing I would watch a second time.

Movies
01. - Brazen Virtue (based on a novel by Nora Roberts - available on Netflix)
Grace comes home at the request of her sister, only to find her murdered in her house. Later she has to realize that her sister was not only a popular highschool teacher but also had some dark secrets. Together with her sister's neighbour, detective Jennings, Grace tries to find out the truth behind the murder.
Did I enjoy watching this movie? Well, it's based on a novel by Nora Roberts, so, what do you expect? It was okay for distraction after a hard day, but I will admit that it's more like watching it ... and forget it right away.

Audiobooks
01. - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (by J.K. Rowlings)
And here we go again - not telling much about the plot of the book, because I think, even if you are not in the Potter Fandom you will know what these books are about ;)
In parts, it was fun to listen to the book; sometimes the (german) narrator was kind of annoying. So it took me longer to get through it. And I am not sure, when I will go on with book three. We will see.
