Status update: systems running near full capacity, sir. ^_~

I know me, and I know I'll probably be long-winded, so I'm gonna put this behind a cut.

Lots has been happening lately & pretty much all of it good. ^_^

Signed lease on house with sister and sister's friend, Courtney. Courtney is a cook at a local fabulous restaurant, so I hope for food cast-offs occasionally. ^_~ Moving date is Friday, August 7th. w00t.

Photography has been going well. ^_^ I have had two photo shoots in the last month and one mini-shoot. One was for the SunMoon Yoga anniversary celebration & one was for a Valentine's day event at Naslada Bistro in BG. Couples paid $48 for a three course meal, salsa lesson, and salsa performance. I was there to take portraits of the couples and candids of the dancing. The photos when online and people could choose to buy or not (I'll post a link to my site after I get it cleaned up just a little bit more. ^^). The mini-shoot was test shots for a massage therapist who is working on how-to manuals for massage therapy. He's interviewing models and I'm getting test shots of them. And I have a photo shoot lined up for next week! & another mini-one during the next model interview. w00t.

This coincides with me getting my tax return, which is what I was waiting for so I can apply to be an LLC (limited liability company), after which, I'll get business cards and feel all official. ^_~ Plus, somemost of the tax return is going to more photo equip. Not nearly everything I want, but a few more pieces will be bought in the immediate future.

Also, buying a Proxxon (like a Dremel, but German made and superior. Dremels have gotten cheaper and flimsy in the last 10 years or so.) and the Beauty of Kinbaku, by all accounts an awesome book on shibari, which I haven't been studying/practicing nearly enough lately. The Proxxon is because I have a case that needs to be modded. After the modding, then the computer can be built. ^_^

Belly dance is going really, really well. ^____^ Aegela has had me lead the warm ups in, I think, 4 out of the last 5 classes. Also, we're learning choreographies for the spring show. & for both choreos, Aegela has specifically told me that I look great doing them and I have great attitude/presence while doing them. ^________________^ I also got my costume for the one number, & I'm quite excited about it. It's gorgeous on me (for stage, IRL it's horribly gaudy) but not colors I would ever wear in my normal day to day life -- I will be in Turquoise with accents of *fuchsia*, *gold*, and *white*!! o_O The other costume I still have to make/assemble. Oh! & Holly & I are collaborating on making a tribal fusion group choreography piece. I'm really excited because it's the first time I'm helping to choreograph anything! w00t!

In line with belly dance, I've started an online forum for GLBT belly dancers and friends called GLOW Raqs (GLOW = Gay, Lesbian, Or Whatever; Raqs = Arabic for dance, pronounced "rocks"). That's going really well so far. ^_^ A lot of positive feedback and it seems I'm really creating a safe space/community online for us. For those of you that don't already know, I'm bisexual.

Twitter is proving to be much fun. Both because of conversations had and because I'm following ("following" on Twitter is the equivalent of "friending" on LJ) Neil Gaiman, Wil Wheaton, Brent Spiner, Levar Burton (Reading Rainbow, Kunta Fucking Kinte, Geordi LaForge!), Leonard Nimoy, George Takai, Amanda Palmer (Dresden Dolls), and Zoe Keating (formerly of Rasputina). It's amazing to see random pics of Neil outside, playing in the snow with his dog and backstage tweets from Zoe as she's in Australia at a gig. :D

& if any of you are wondering about my general emotional state because of the break up at the beginning of the year, I'm doing fine. ^_^ It hasn't been an issue for a while now, though I sometimes wondered if I was actually over it or I had just stopped dealing with it and it was there all lurky in my subconscious but one thing happened today that was kinda a marker that I'm good now. I have this tendency that if I'm actually depressed about something, I can't/don't want to listen to music that reminds me of that situation or depresses me more. So a song came on today ("Stuck" by Stacie Orrico) that a month or two ago, I would have reflexively switched to the next song and gotten all grr or depressed, but today, I was singing along and dancing all cheerily. ^_^

Work is good, crazy busy, which is good considering the economy, I think. I love my new boss. She's still all fabulous and really appreciates that I kick ass at my job.

So my year is going great so far, which is funny, considering how it began and that it's year of the Ox, which isn't supposed to be good for Horses (not that I put stock into those predictions, but they're still fun to read and see how they do or don't turn out. ^^)

So yup. That's what's going on now, for the most part.

Hugs & love! ^_^
