You'd be surprised at just how many festivals don't notify you that you've been rejected. I've had to find out from two or three by going to the website and seeing that yes, I've been rejected.

So far I've only encountered that from one other festival. They even ignored my email when I contacted them to find out if I had been accepted. It's just amazingly rude and unprofessional for an orgnaization to that. Literary magazines receive a thousand times more submission and they still send a rejection letter for everyone, it doesn't matter that it's a form letter, it's just good business.

I agree. It's very rude, but I don't envy them having to watch hundreds of movies and shorts, compares them to each other and trying to fit all of them together schedule that lasts anywhere from a weekend to a week. Don't get me wrong, I like knowing what's up. I like pinning my rejection slips to the wall behind my computer. Makes me keep going.
