Because I can't stand politics anymore...

... I've decided to totally ignore it for awhile and post some pictures of the Michigan Renaissance Festival that my family and I went to this weekend.

Cut for large photo dump of nerds in costumes. )

Heh, thanks!

I dunno why the goths love Ren Faires so much. Maybe it's because they get to wear horns and fairy wings out in public? Or tinfoil (I'm still scratching my head over that one. I wish I'd had the balls to ask wtf that was about.)

Along with the truly bizarre fox tail thing, the tin foil confounds me - I'm just SO curious what the heck that's about!

I know. I wish I'd had the guts to ask them what the hell the tinfoil was all about. Maybe it's some kind of satirical deconstruction of Ren Faire attire. Or maybe they just thought it was cool? I guess we'll never know now, lol.

I love Ivy's expression: she looks like she's going, "These are grownups? Really? Grownups are weird."

Hahahah yeah. Very appropriate for a Ren Faire.

Foxtails? Look like furries to me.

That's what I was wondering although I thought furries did the whole body thing and not just tails. There was a vendor who was selling these things in a booth. I should have asked him what the hell that was about.

It's so hard for us Americans not to get angsty and wrapped up in politics considering what's going on in our country at the moment, but personally I'm completely reached saturation point. I can't believe that more people aren't totally burned out since the media has been covering these campaigns almost 24/7 for the last year and a half.

In an effort to keep my sanity, I think I'm just going to try and tune all of that shit out until Nov 4th. I may have to resort to plugging my ears with my fingers and screaming LALALA at the top of my lungs though.

What? You mean America and our problems aren't the center of all creation? That there are people out there that could give a shit less about our elections and political problems? Blasphemy!

I feel for all the non Americans on everyone's f-lists. You guys must think that we're all batshit crazy by now lol.

Personally, I'd welcome some ranting about Thailand's political problems. At least it would be different.
