Yeah, I'm loving SWTOR as well - I'm trying not to start too many characters yet, since I don't want to get totally lost and I want to see what other options the Legacy system brings - to that end, I haven't even started either a Sith Warrior or Jedi Consular. From what I hear about the former, though, they're one of the few classes that get two female love interests - the original intent is that Vette is the more lightside love interest for those who release her from slavery, while there's a later and more darkside oriented woman as well.
I'll post some pictures of my main characters later, though - I agree that the Jedi Knight has a fairly generic Heroic fantasy story, though she's the only character I've acquired every companion for.
Regarding Jorgan though - when I first tried a Republic Trooper, I ran into the minature NPC glitch in his introductory cutscene, so that I was introduced to a six-inch tall angry soldier. It was hilarious.
I do like the variety in playing styles between classes an awful lot.
Yeah, I have a problem starting too many toons and then sort of abandoning them at various levels, lol. I'm not sure how many of these are actually going to make the level cap. I mostly rolled them out of curiosity, or to have a toon to chat on while I waited for mutive to finish up her imperial agent. I have to admit that I'm still a newb and don't know much at all about the legacy stuff (like apparently there are names or something
( ... )
Very much enjoyed this write-up! You make some really interesting looking characters! Definitely sounds like the non-Force users are more your cup of tea, heh. Hope you'll do more as you keep playing!
I'm sort of embarrassed when I think of how long I spent agonizing over getting the right look for my toons, lol. Especially hair - there was much angsting over that.
You're definitely right about me favoring the non force user classes. It's not really that those storylines are bad, more like they just don't appeal to me. I'm much more interested in playing someone who isn't chosen by the force to do great things and save the universe. You don't get to play many videogames where you're basically a grunt, or a money grubbing merc or whatever, which is probably why those classes appeal to me more.
And I'm sure there will be more of these post as I play along and discover new stuff, since I think I've really only scratched the surface of this game.
That's kind of why I'm actually secretly happy they went with an MMO rather than doing KotOR 3, since I'm fairly confident that KotOR3's story would be a lot closer to the Jedi Knight's storyline than anything else.
That is a very good point. The Jedi Knight story or possibly one of the other force users stories would have definitely been the focus. Since I'm enjoying the hell out of three non force user classes, I'm very glad they didn't make it a single player game. Not that playing Revan or the Exile wasn't fun, but this is a really nice change of pace.
Good to see you posting! (says she who posts maaaaaaybe once every six weeks these days). FWIW, I finished my Sith Warrior storyline a few days back and loved the hell out of it, but I was playing her more "merciless but honorable" and less "rawr kill Force Choke". (In 50 levels, I've only choked one person, and that was the guy who cussed out my Zabrak self for "bringing aliens into the Empire".) It's fun to feel like the mother of all badasses sometimes, and the female romance interest turns no few stereotypes on their heads.
I have altitis and a bad case of crafting mania, which means I have one level 50 and several level 11- or 12s who are sitting around Fleet with level 25 crafting skills. :)
Heh, thanks. I've been quiet lately, even though I've been around reading various communities. Mostly because I've shifted away from fanfiction and into writing original short stories. I figure posts where I whine about how many times I've gotten rejected (eleventybillion), the rare occasional sale, how long it takes to hear back from markets and me lamenting over my lazy ass and small wordcount, wouldn't be particularly interesting.
I've heard good things about the f!SW romance (he seems to be a real favorite on the forums anyway). I've been playing mine as a stone cold bitch and I'm not sure I could pass up an entertaining force choke. Maybe the storyline gets stronger after the prologue too. I may have to give her a second chance at some point.
I haven't taken the time to figure out how to craft stuff yet. I'm terribly behind on that. But then I'm sort of suffering from noobitis - I just only figured out what the hell commendations were for and that you can buy stuff from the lightside/darkside vendors.
I'm having fun with the game too. (And looking forward to playing it tomorrow.) So far, poor Mutive, the horribly screwed up imperial agent is my main, although I've mostly abandoned her for the time being to focus on Faeol and Lucrecia, my somewhat less screwed up trooper and counselor...
Heh, I don't think Briseis will ever take the shock collar off of Vette. She's just too much of a bitch to do something like that even if she's not constantly shocking the hell out of her (only occasionally).
Anytime you want to level, I'm totally up for the derp - Imperial/Republic, it doesn't matter to me. I think I'm going to run Tanit to some of the fleet vendors before we play again. I've actually figured out what the hell some of those commendations are actually for and can't believe how much I missed on my trooper. *facepalm*
Lucrecia throwing that dude into the fire still amazes me. I have an awesome screen shot of her:
Hah hah hah. Lucrecia so looks like the anti-Lucrecia there. IT IS AWESOME.
I'm sure I'll be wasting away much of tomorrow, so if you're on, we'll have to wander two of them around being silly.
Oh, you missed the commendations? Well, worse comes to worse, you can always go back. The nice stuff about the oranges is that you can replace the mods and keep them forever. So nice!
Mako is super cute, and a very popular LI. (Which worries me only in that she seems like she's 14, but...whatever.) But, yeah, I strongly suspect she's going to flip out sooner or later, seeing as my BH is evil. (And she keeps trying so hard. It's kind of hilarious, seeing as NPCs keep being like, "You're partners, right?" and Mako's like, "Yes, we're in LOVE!" and Mahkara is like, "Get the @#$# away from me.")
I'll definitely be on later today either on Naveh or Pim. Probably sometime in the afternoon when Tom goes up stairs to do some work and Ivy is taking a nap. If not then, after dinner. But hell, probably both the way I've been playing.
Yeah, I just figured out the commendations like a newb. Which is probably my own fault as I have a tendency to ignore half of the helpful messages from the game about how to do stuff.
Awww. Poor Mako. I don't think I have the heart to be truly mean to her (she's like Alistair - It'd be like kicking puppies), but you must let me know if you manage to run her off.
Hahahaha. We can have like pissy Chiss bounty hunter sisters or something. I love how she's rocking the Leia hair buns. That's hilarious. Lash and Mekel totally make me laugh too. From what I've heard about the IA storyline, they'd be right at home there.
What do you think about the IA storyline so far? Mutive's played one to 50 and told me a bit about it, and it seems like a totally crazy story and class.
Shirtless Corso totally makes me laugh. I'm curious about him too. I haven't gotten him as a party member yet, but I figure it's soon. He seems very sweet and earnest and sort of like Alistair, which means I'll probably think "Oh, doofy little brother" even though he's supposed to be the romance.
I am always up for playing and can totally work around whenever you and Rose play, especially since she's on a work schedule. Are you on during the morning or afternoon on the weekdays at all? That might be a good time to derp around.
I love the IA storyline. I have a theory that the different storylines appeal to different types. I accidentally spoiled myself on a few major reveals on the IA, although only vaguely, and I am pissed about it. But I still love the story.
I am on during mornings weekdays after school drop offs a fair amount. We could definitely play then!
Have been levelling Kosiah with Rose, and Pink with my husband. And helping Mia some too. Kosiah makes an excellent power leveller, or assist, if you ever need help getting through a class sequence too.
And we should all do pvp. With Rim. Maybe even on vent. Guild has a vent server.
