When they first met, Red had already taken an instant amusement towards America. At first, Red is confused about him - with all that Not!Japan, Japan, and communism business. But with time, Red has found out that America is quite easy to handle as he isn't too different from a clueless puppy. Due to this, Red has developed a hidden protective vibe towards America.
This is why he was awkward towards America when he first offered Red to teach him how to fight. He didn't think that one of the people that he wanted to protect would be the one to teach him how to fight and protect himself. Since then, Red has tried even harder to become capable.
Other than that, the guy is wonderful company. He's funny, cheerful, and kind of cute. Also, America's eventual airhead always strikes a laugh or giggle to Red. Red always hopes that America doesn't change. He's very happy to have someone like America as a dear friend.

The cute kid is quickly growing on Red. However, due to their early conversations, Red is kind of convinced that this kid needs frequent checking up as he seemed airheaded and clumsy. One instance is this conversation:
"Hey... you're bleeding-?!"
"Ah.. Yeah..." (with a sheepish grin)
"?!" (why is he grinning...)
Aside from that, Red also noticed that "Gazelle" forgot to touch the coral and seemed afraid of hospitals, so that definitely made him worry more. Red knew that - normally, if someone's afraid of the hospital, something traumatic took place. But Red has enough respect to not ask about it.
On a side note, Red is pleased to know that "Gazelle" appreciates Pikachu.

Red doesn't quite know whether to punch him or love him. As his childhood friend, Green always had a special spot in Red's life. Things wouldn't be as exciting without his rival smoking the road up for him, whether Red liked it or not. It was Green's existence that molded who Red has become. He has grown tolerant and patient to others because of him.
In fact, it's turned into the point that Red actually appreciated them. His life wouldn't be complete without Green's ridiculous teasings or trollings. He felt that he matured because of Green. It was also Green's challenges that brought out certain potentials in Red. We can't forget who Red even followed in the first place regarding Pokemon Battling

Lea really knows how to hit Red's spots and gain his trust. The guy is independent, strong-willed, and to top it all off: an awesome cook. Lea also has a good sense of humor which Red appreciates a lot. With Lea's cheerful heart, Red found his company to be rather enjoyable, especially since Lea is around his age. (Or at least, it seems to be!) He felt that he could relate a lot to the other boy and is definitely looking forward to spending more brotimes with Lea. It's amusing to know that Lea is just as watchful as him when it comes to people they care about.
But Red especially won't forget the time that Lea had been there for him when he was feeling under the weather with America's disappearance. He really wants to gain a chance to show his appreciation in the future, but hopefully for a happier reason.

And he's not scared of hospitals usually... ;3; After being accompanied there by Red though he's okay with the Vatheon clinic. :D
Red is one of the very few people Akito (and Agito!) would actually consider someone that they trust. /o/
