I drank Dasani every school day for four years during high school because it was the only brand they sold at my school. I got really burnt out on it... it kind of had a weird aftertaste, as well. So now I don't drink that anymore. My mom sometimes buys Ozarka, but it's not really my favorite. I definitely prefer Aquafina. It has a crisp, clean taste.

I feel like such a nerd for making a poll about water. But I love water. I'm interested to see more discussion on this.

I dig on Mt. Shasta. Has anyone else heard of that? As far as I know it only comes out of the vending machines at school.

Apparently, it's the same thing as Crystal Geyser. I guess they call it by a different name in different regions. I believe it comes from Mt. Shasta in California.

I really like Dasani, but Evian steals my heart. I'm also a fan of Smart Water, but it is not on the list.

Sparkletts. Is this a real brand of water?! It sounds like an alternative name for pasties.

Yeah, Sparkletts is... weird. They have these trucks that drive around town, apparently delivering water to people, and the brand name Sparkletts is covered in blue sequins that sparkle and shine as the sun reflects off of them. They also make water with added fluoride to help promote dental hygiene in children.

I've never really liked Evian simply because my mom has always expressed a distaste for it. She doesn't like the aftertaste, and since she pointed it out, every time I try to drink Evian I feel like I'm drinking dirty water.

I've seen these "water trucks" before with the blue sequins, but the name covered in said sequins was not Sparkletts. At least I'm pretty sure it wasn't.

People have pointed out the aftertaste with Dasani to me before, but I don't notice it. I don't notice one with Evian, either. Maybe because I was raised in NJ I'm used to drinking sludge. Ha!

Hmmm... I did a Google search, and apparently the parent company is called DS Waters of America. They're brands include Sparkletts, Kentwood Springs, Alhambra, Crystal Springs, Hinckley Springs, Sierra Springs, and Belmont Springs. Perhaps you saw one of those names instead of Sparkletts. I think the name changes regionally.

We used to drive through Kentwood, Louisiana, on our way from Florida to Texas, and we would get Kentwood Springs bottled water just because it was from the hometown of Britney Spears.

...it all tastes like water to me. Maybe I need to do more research, but really, I can't tell a difference.

Well, you're right to an extent. It really is all water. The main differences are the source. For example, Ozarka is from a spring and it's purified etc. Aquafina is mainly tap water that goes through reverse osmosis and purifying. I can taste the difference on some... for example, I don't like spring water a lot because to me it has a musky aftertaste. I much prefer the crispness of Aquafina.

For those that don't really care, I guess the question can mean... if you're at a gas station and want a bottle of water, which brand are you going to choose? It could be based on taste, packaging, cost, etc.

I forgot about this. I read this article about bottled water a while back. What's most interesting is the idea that water shortages are being created so that people can have bottled water.

It's a pretty interesting article. Personally, I like tap water better than purified anyway.

I think it's interesting (from the article) that the French Senate recommends that consumers of bottled water change brands frequently to avoid buildup of the minerals in certain brands. It brings a whole new meaning to this poll! Maybe next month we'll take a poll and everyone has to choose a different brand so we can remain healthy.

A lot of people don't realize that some of the big brands (like Aquafina) are just selling you purified tap water. I recognize this but I still enjoy it more than tap water. Something about it coming from a faucet gives me the creeps. Who knows how many germs are living on the faucet?
