See, I love to make fun of frivolous tort suits, but I always wonder what I would do in the situation. If I get dismembered by a spider, I might be a little angry, too.

Yeah, but how can you blame the airline company? Brown Recluse spiders are known for hiding in dark places. They aren't that big, and what are the attendants supposed to do? Look in every nook and cranny in the 747 to make sure nothing's there? I mean, they can't even detect bombs, how can they detect an arachnid?

If I went camping, got stung by a bee, found out at the ER that I'm deathly allergic, I wouldn't sue the campsite. Things like that happen. It's horrible what did happen, obviously, as I would never wish a Brown Recluse attack on anybody (my mom was bit by one twentysomeodd years ago and still has the scar), but it's not something that the airline could have planned.

I don't know. We've become a society of greed, and we'll find any little thing to sue over in hopes of getting a quick buck.
