A Job I was not Hired to do...

So I guess I'm realizing that being an older sister is way harder than it sounds or looks. I was not hired for this job. I did not once see a job description, and I feel like I don't even have a salary. I'm not even respected or appreciated for all the work that goes into being this older sister ( Read more... )

hmmm try being a younger sister and an older sister. woah. just gotta do what's best and of course you'll be rewarded in the long run. the saying goes something about having a made in best friend espeically as you get older and that is SOOOO true. :)

i guess she needs to make her own mistakes. she is hurt, no doubt, but will it really damage her in the long run? maybe shes just growing up faser than we did at her age, most girls are these days. seeing as my older sister is far worse behavior wise than me, i know that you dont need to be a perfect example. you dont need to have all the answers and you dont need to be the one to tell her what is right. chances are shes already learned that between watching you grow up (and believe me, shes watched every cool thing youve done with jealousy and every bad thing youve done with sympathy and a lesson learned) and between her parents. they raised you just finie so they must be doing something right. just be there. be her friend. she has the parents, even if they're totally blind to the things she chooses to do. she needs a big sister, she needs a good friend. you can give her your opinion, but if my older sister tells me something i should do or should not do, i just feel that much more rebellious. its a hard balance but the ( ... )

thanks heather...that comment meant alot to me especially since you have experience in that area. :) thanks...it was really encouraging. i will try better to be her friend first & foremost
