Dave never thought in a million years that Kurt would forgive him. Why should he? Dave himself hadn't been able to let go of his being bullied. The moment he smelled Hudson's blood in the waters, he went in for his revenge and it was sweet until it consumed his life.
It had become an easy habit, until the confusion came in... and the fear. That little sensation nagging at the back of his brain that he just might not be 'just one of the guys' and what would happen if they found out? And Kurt? It was a giant painful mess with Kurt, one which he hated himself for even as he did it. It was a self made hell that he created for himself and threw Kurt into for good measure and god, did he regret it!
But Kurt? Kurt actually tried to help him and acted like he cared. He was brave enough to understand what Dave himself had trouble comprehending. Kurt forgave him and that was far more then Dave ever dreamed he get and way more then he'd ever deserve. It was a relief. It was a light. Something that made him think that no matter how bad things were that he just might be guided out of the darkness.
