In my part of the world we are moving from cold, dark days defined by harsh southerly winds to long, lazy warm days with northerly breezes which sometimes transform magically into dust storms blowing down off the desert

Here we are slowly going from a hot sweaty summer with lot of sun to a windy chilly fall with lot of rain. ;) The wind is far from blowing sand and we see only dried out leaves churning in the air.

And Americans and English absolutely DON'T know what are wool and sweatshirt. :p Remember the tuque is canadian. ^^

There's something I find strange though in all the things you're speaking about. You're not a NZ native aren't you?

First things first: wth is a tuque. I can't even work out how to say it.

I am a Kiwi. :) What gave me away? I've only been in Melbourne for 6 years and I really like it here but it will never be home. Australia's just not as beautiful as NZ.

In french you pronounced it like the japanese TU and the japanese K + a dying english E sound like in "THE".

In english they usually pronounced it "touke" because english people are never able to pronounce the french U correctly.

Ha, so it's the contrary, you're born in NZ and moved out to AU, not moved out to NZ. Well, I actually thought you were from US/UK and moved to NZ. So I didn't really guess your origin at all and it was a hazard I found out that you changed of country. ;) However, when I read that you said that you're in Melbourne, it made sense that the anonymous poster that said "You should move to Melbourne" on my LJ was you then. ^^

Maybe you'd be able to go back to NZ soon if you prefer that over where you are currently. :)

It's not that I prefer NZ. I like being in Melbourne and NZ has too much family for me to handle at the moment but I'm sure that I will end up there eventually. I miss my sister and my grandma, I can't stay away forever.

You didn't tell me what tuque means. and I'm still not sure I'm pronouncing it right, I'd need to hear it I think.
