You read my interrogation questions, comment with a "Beam me up, Scotty!" and i'll give you five interrogation questions of your own. So here we go...
1. What is it that you love most about Sherlock Holmes, and what drives you to keep writing in that world?
-Sherlock Holmes is wholly and utterly unique. One of a kind. It's amazing, thinking about just how different he is. It's enviable. Who doesn't wish to be a diamond in the insanely sandy beach of the cosmos? At the same time, how bad must it suck to be so alone too? And yet, Holmes has Watson, his one connection to the rest of humanity. And that friendship, it's unique and marvelous and wonderful in its own right. That's why i like writing about it. Something as special as that always produces gold.
2. Do you find angst or fluff easier to write, and why?
-Angst. Have you read my fluff pieces? They always start out totally crack-ish and then apparently as the fic becomes sober, it ends up as a serious story. Feltily Ever After was about talking hats for chrissakes and ended up about how Holmes wished he could have Watson share his name like a real married couple. I have a penchant for writing bittersweet endings, anways. Just a little after-sting of angst to make the other elements that much sweeter. Besides, angst means oodles of hurt-comfort at the end too.
3. Who is your literary hero? Because now I want to know.
-That chap who wrote the Mouse and the Motorcycle. Beverly Cleary--whoops, chappess. I remember being seven, reading that book and questioning how i could love a character so much and believe in a story so well even though none of it had the remotest possibility of being real.
-If you mean a fictional hero from literature it would be Georgina Kincaid from Richelle Mead's Succubus Series, bar none. She's sexy, has a bunch of sex, says witty shit all the time, kicks ass, and works in a book store. When i grow up, i want to be her.
4. If you could live anywhere in the world, doing anything, where and what would it be?
-In London, getting a paid internship at a publishing house.
-In Ireland, rolling rocks down a hill until they disappear into the mist while it rains lightly.
-In France, using my paltry french skills to order a baguette from a corner boulangerie.
-In Maui, zip-lining and hoping to God i don't end up like George of the Jungle.
-In New York City, looking busy and important walking through Rockefeller at 6 in the morning even though all the stores are closed.
5. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY--Kirk, Spock, and McCoy: marry, shag, or cliff?
-I don't know what "cliff" is or whether i'm supposed to choose one verb per character, but i'd want to have a one night stand with Kirk, while be his sparring partner the rest of the time, and be content being drinking buddies with McCoy so we could discuss how often and how well Kirk and Spock get it on.
