...Krauser. It wouldn't surprise me if it was Krauser who iced them both.
Try and narrow the list down to who else Wesker would go after. Even if he is doing all of this to draw our attention, we can't afford to ignore him in favor of trying to figure out what else he's up to.
"We've got threat profilers covering that now, trying to guess where the next round of mayhem will land. There's a chance that the assassin, whoever it is, will continue this method of entering to assess, getting the PIN, and returning for an overwhelming attack. In that case, a security flicker might be the first warning.
"Problem is, as well you know, our people don't like running.
"And we've got one public financial move to obtain two companies, and one publicized attack on two people. I'm suspecting this is something of a hit-and-run that Wesker's been looking forward to for a while now. Now that we're running around trying to figure out how these attacks were coordinated and who the dual BOWs could be, he could be about to pull some other fun little ploy."
"It's a little hard to be sure. The coroner estimates maybe three hours before the body was found. The duration of the attacks? Not very long. There's really not much point in continuing to hit someone who's dead. Akerson appears to have been able to dodge for a brief while, but he was unable to get a weapon or escape.
"We all heard about the chairman within the hour of his discovery--I'm sure you've got messages--and add four hours to that for the initial flood of reaction. I had to wait until we knew exactly what was going on. You know what breaking announcements are like.
"I'll keep you posted if we can narrow anything down."
If the scene investigators are done, and you can get me an uninterrupted ten minutes in the next forty-eight hours, I will be able to confirm PINpoint incursion and give you the locations within three hundred feet of where they came from. After that, the traces I need decay too much to be usable. The equipment I need is something I can carry.
If you want me to do this, I'm willing to, no reciprocation needed. If you want to observe, please feel welcome. I'll have to arrive outside the actual building in order to make sure I don't mess up any traces. If I get very lucky, I may be able to pull enough off the traces to get you some idea of size and weight of the person or persons involved.
If they didn't use a PINpoint, but used other nonlinear transport means, I can determine that too.
"I might be able to get you into the Senator's scene, but not the Chairman's. We'll be crawling over his house for a few days at least, trying to figure out if anything was taken.
"I'll see if I can triangulate from satellite data and get us a PINpoint outside his home. I'd like to be there, if only to stay on watch while you work and help make sure nothing's left-
"Oh. You do understand the PIN trace will likely be in the room he was killed? It's not very. . . clean."
I've had to do forensic work in rooms with people killed with... ok, you may not believe this, but I'll say it anyway: moths genetically merged with piranha. (My home-verse was like something you would read in a comic book.)
Give me the information and I'll be there. I kept a field kit ready for these traces after hearing Wesker was back.
Hunnigan's head goes back slightly at an angle, and she directs a quizzical look at the ceiling. It's not disbelief. It's the mental imagery.
Field kit. Hmm. Probably not suited for those who don't know what they're doing. She pauses to wait for clouds to pass by, then zooms in on the right two patches of ground and gets her readings before the satellite passes out of range.
"All right. I need to be there first. If you PIN in and don't see me, get out immediately."
It's not just the risk of being detected. It's the slight chance that Wesker's public move may have set up a trap of some sort.
"Hmm. Maybe trying to see if anyone besides Leon is aware of PIN travel? He could be watching for energy flares or some other sign of Nexus-related travel, prepared to send someone in after whoever comes to look.
"Maybe I should have Eiko show me how to operate the detection equipment, and have her stay at the Nexus while I investigate for a PIN trace. I'm not sure how capably I could defend both her and myself, but I think I'm capable of getting out alone if he's waiting to eliminate someone."

"Thanks for letting me know. Fortunately, I hadn't started trying to verify her last activity yet."

[A moment of hesitation.]
...oh, to hell with it.
I was with Leon in Globochem. Ada helped us out.

"That would explain why Wesker's failed to start testing his own version of Las Plagas. Leon reported she got the sample from him."
The unspoken question is, "so where's it in play now?"
"Thank you."

How long ago were the attacks?
