MagnusA842 (12:23:02 PM): A geoduck is not a duck in any way, shape, or form. It is a species of large saltwater clam (Panope generosa) which is native to the northern Pacific coasts of Canada and the United States of America, that is, along the coasts of Washington state and the province of British Columbia. They live buried deep in the sand of ocean beaches, and feed on smaller sea creatures, sometimes reaching the age of 100+ years. The first time most people see one, they are immediately struck by the creature's strong resemblance to an oversized(?) example of a certain portion of the male anatomy. Despite this seeming drawback, geoducks are dug up, cooked and eaten, particularly by people in China. If they can be caught; they are excellent diggers, and geoduck-hunting is not for the timid or squeamish

MagnusA842 (12:20:31 PM):

You will need a state shellfish license, at $10.95 plus a small dealer's fee annually for residents 16-69, or $8.76 plus dealer's fee for those 70 and older. A one-day combination fishing/shellfish license is available at $7 plus dealer's fee.

The daily limit is three geoducks per person, but you also may harvest a limit of steamer clams (40 per day) and oysters (18 per day) if they're available on the beach you visit. For details, as well as maps that show public beaches and season dates for each, see wdfw.wa.gov/fish/shelfish/beachreg/.

won800p imp (12:32:30 PM): They burrow only as juveniles, and once they've settled three or four feet deep into the mud, they never move from that spot. However, their siphons, which people usually refer to as "necks," extend to the surface and can be withdrawn, which gives a clam the appearance of moving when it's disturbed. Here they live for decades, siphoning in seawater, filtering out nutritious phytoplankton and then expelling the seawater.
won800p imp (12:32:43 PM): we only have to dig 4 feet
MagnusA842 (12:33:01 PM): ur plankton

ok so we're going geoduck hunting. we just need to go to puget sound, pay $7 for a one-day license, find where one of those big penis things is sticking out of the sand then dig 4 feet down and we will find a giant penis clam.
