“You’re so sweet!”
He wasn’t, really. He was always there for her, always being so sweet as she put it, because he’d loved her since they’d first met.
It tormented him to watch her choose men who used and neglected her, even though he was guilty of doing the same to women.
One could argue he behaved this way because none compared to her and, in multiple failed attempts to accept they would be nothing more than just friends, he was merely acting out in response to his unrequited feelings.
But that’s not right, he thought, I must just not be good enough.
