"The Uses of Sorrow" by Mary Oliver

(In my sleep I dreamed this poem)

Someone I loved once gave me
a box full of darkness.

It took me years to understand
that this, too, was a gift.

I don't know anything about her. tralfamadore posted this earlier and I was just blown away and had to repost.

I really like this.

I also wish my dreams could be so profound, the ones I remember. Last night I prayed that I'd have a good dream (just to try, why not, especially since I don't seem to remember most dreams) and I dreamed that I had some really good ice cream. I woke up like, good enough, lol

Me too. tralfamadore posted it yesterday and I was so moved by it, I had to repost for posterity.

I rarely remember my dreams and the ones I do are almost always about work, sadly. For example, the last one I remember having was a couple weeks ago when I dreamed about not having enough chairs for STAR testing.
