i don't know. if it's so easy for people to stay home and not vote because of a few advertisements, maybe other parties aren't working hard enough. or maybe because people feel like their vote is a waste. and how do we know that if more people didn't vote, it would end up a conservative majority? i get that dion really wanted to win this campaign by only talking about policy, but maybe people stayed home because they saw little difference between all parties (even if there are tangible differences). i'd be into people talking about electoral reform rather than poisonous ads - there are always poisonous ads.

I think that electoral reform has little possibility of passing if people think all the parties are the same or if there is little engagement in the process.

We will see as I think they are going to try another round of electoral reform referendums in BC next spring. I am doubtful.

I know that there will always be attack ads but I had no idea that they served to push people away from the system. I know they work - both sides use them. I just didn't know they worked that well.
