The Chore of Getting Your Own Drink

Apr 05, 2009 23:53

The papers surveyed 250 youths aged 13 to 20 if they do household chores. While i'm not surprised nor bothered about results of questions like "do you make your own bed", "do you wash your clothes", "do you mop or sweep the floor", i was totally floored that 43 out of 250 responded NO to the question "DO YOU GET YOUR OWN DRINK ( Read more... )

likely its the maid getting them brats the drink. The only way I could get someone to get me a drink when I was a kid is when i was a baby or too weak to get up from sickbed!

i was more surprised that "getting your own drink" even counts as a CHORE. like wtf? one of these days, we'll probably need to portion food into bite sized pieces for them as well.

but oh, you know what, it's our EDUCATION SYSTEM's fault, 'cause like teachers are not teaching them the right values.

(can you tell i'm bitter? hahaha.)

ya next you know it would be a chore to swallow their saliva and they will just die hahah

no lah, these kind of values must come from family! teachers are convenient scapegoats :P

the parents these days are not parenting la, farming their kids out to infant and childcare centers, then blaming everything on the teachers and letting the kids get away with murder, tsk tsk. but no such issues in my family, the little guy cant even leave his water bottle lying on the floor after he has thrown it there after drinking... lol

many ppl are having a kid for the sake of having a kid and not that they truly want 1. and somehow it also seems to be 'fashionable' for retards barely out of their teens to have shotgun marriages. i shudder to think of the type of kids in the generation my son will be growing up with.

It's the maid problem. Often, I've seen even grown ups(rich peers) who would ask the maid to pour even a glass of water for them even if the kitchen is just a walk away.Probably those 43 people interviewed are really those with maids. The parents din teach the kids the right values. I do have a fren who has 3 kids & 2 maids yet never allow such things to happen. It's the family.
