Walked over to the Golden Nugget and sat down at one of the quieter places, where we could actually hear each other talk over the fucking loud ding noises of the slots. It was a strange silence that followed our rag-tag little group, even amongst the cacophany of Fremont Street and the old casinos and the music accompanying the overhead show. Faith was able to find one of the few even remotely quiet corners of one of the casino bars, and we all crowded into the largest booth they had.

Faith had taken the liberty of ordering the drinks for the table, and I raised an eyebrow as she specified a scotch of which I approved. I was quite surprised she'd taken notice. When the drinks came, Faith touched my arm and there was an unexpected electric moment I think we may have both experienced. She took her hand away, and I put my free one over where it had been.

"Glad you're ok, boss," she said, lightly, and I returned the expression, though my thoughts stayed back a few moments.

"I am, and thank you," I answered, very honestly.

Her expression darkened. "Sorry if I disappointed you."I frowned back, trying to fathom just how she possibly could have disappointed me with what had happened in the alley. ( ... )

The dark-haired girl that had weilded the stake so effectivley before took control of the group, once it was clear that the demons were all defintley deceased, and led us to a corner booth of one of the casinos. I tried not to cringe as we sat down. Sometimes the noise of this place overwhelmed me.

I took the drink she ordered for me, and sipped it politely from the outside seat I had claimed. Curiosity was keeping me here right now. That, and free time, if I wanted to define my situation more acurately. But that didn't mean I would ever shake the need to station myself in the best place to move, and move quickly, should the need arise.

"Glad you're ok, boss. Sorry if I disappointed you."

I quirked an eyebrow at her words before pulling back and showing anything else. But really, I was learning quite a bit already.

"You didn't, Faith. Not a bit."

That was the way of things, then. I hardly had time to process that before her name settled. Faith. There was something there I think I am supposed to know.
