There was something to that, I had to admit. I'd never lied to myself to the extent that I'd believed resuming my duties as Faith's Watcher would be an easy road to hoe. But it had been a hell of a lot bumpier than I'd ever imagined, and it wasn't likely to get smoother anytime soon.
